Can't get engine in acc mode

This past Sunday I stripped the Camaro down and put my first coat of Zaino on the paint. Well as I always do I like to listen to some music as I'm cleaning up my car but I couldn't figure out how to get it to work in an 'ACC' mode.

It did all kinds of crazy things when I tried. I first got in didn't hold down the clutch and just tapped the START button. It first pulled up my iPhone on bluetooth but when I changed the song it lost sound. I then tried to go one of my XM presets and I got this funny alphanumeric output where it should have said 'Octane'. Being a computer guy my solution of course was to turn the car off and then back on and that didn't do anything. It wasn't until I let it sit for a while, while the Zaino set in that I got back in and everything worked fine.

Any one know how to make the radio come on and work while the car isn't running?

Push the start button without any foot action, per the manual. You get 10 min of ACC activity before it auto shuts off to protect battery, no way around that.

Here's what I do in the Corvette; don't know if it work for the Camaro. Leave the keys in the seat and from outside the car press the start button once. This will let it play for about 10 minutes. I haven't been able to figure out any other way to do it. That's kind of a downside to push button start.

One thing you might try that I haven't, is to put the fob in the emergency slot for when the battery runs low. This may keep it active for longer. Let us know if you figure out a better way to do this.

Anybody else notice when you put a Gen 6 SS in ACC mode it sounds like running water is coming out of the exhaust pipes?

What is causing that sound?

On a brighter note it doesn't have the ghostly 3 knock solenoid sound the Gen 5 has

Hold the START button for about 5 to 10 seconds. No clutch, no brake, etc. That will put it in the ON/ACC mode. Hitting it once might do it but I have not tried one yet. Some of these new cars with MyLink, if you hit the power button you can get the radio to turn on in some instances. I've seen that happen before, kind of strange IMO.

Actually there is...

Service Only Mode
This power mode is available for
service and diagnostics, and to
verify the proper operation of the
malfunction indicator lamp as may
be required for emission inspection
purposes. With the vehicle off, and
the brake pedal not applied,
pressing and holding the button for
more than five seconds will place
the vehicle in Service Only Mode.
The instruments and audio systems
will operate as they do in ON/RUN,
but the vehicle will not be able to be
driven. The engine will not start in
Service Only Mode. Press the
button again to turn the vehicle off

End quote
This will remain on until you turn it off or the battery goes dead, whichever comes first.
