ESITMATE 1LE LAP TIMES FOR MT BEST DRIVERS CAR

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/07/...r-competition/ WITH the Z28 running a 1:37.82 and the ZL1 running a 1:39.2 iam going to guess the 1LE ran a 1:38.60 @ Laguna Seca

guesses thoughts?

UPDATE JUST READ the 350R was 2 seconds faster than the 1LE i do not know the validity of this information. or how it was found. but if on average the 350R is just over a second quicker than a Z28 at every track. if i use chuckwala laptimes 350R vs Z28 vs 350 and take a "1.16 second" guesstimate off the Z28s 1:37.82 lap time and you end up with a 1:36.66 for the GT350R and add 2 seconds to that for the 1LE =1:38.66 Iam excited to see the results!!!!! nothing but fun and speculation

Change the thread title to ESTIMATES. It's click bait...

Plus, Lieberman never really implied that the SS 1LE would shave any time off the last gen Z28...that article is very misleading.

Yeah, this thread got me excited and now it's just filler. And there is a long discussion on possible times in the other thread

Do we need another thread talking about Motor Trend testing. 350 was faster than the Z which was slower on that track but faster on this track, if you multiple by 2 and then the 1LE was kissed by a fairy.........

The 100% valid info that I can give you is straight from the Motor Trend guys at the track. They said the difference in the z/28's and 1LE's time is in "tenths". They would not tell me what the GT350R ran.

Within tenths of the z28?!? That's amazing

That's as much as I can say haha

And keep in mind that at other tracks the gap would be more, like Road America with long straights where the LS7 would shine.

Ill just add to the fun.... Within tenths doesn't say whether it was behind by a few tenths or maybe it was ahead!

Thanks for that info. From most of the instrumented tests I've seen, the Z28 doesn't seem to accelerate faster than the '16 SS. They looked pretty even.

For instance, I haven't seen any Z28s hit 120 faster than this: http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...ltestsheet.pdf

HOWEVER, I think that you're right that on a high speed corner, the Z28 aero package is probably more aggressive and would shine.

Can't wait until October 1st for these results to be published!!

Info seems to indicate 1:38.xx. I believe this makes it faster than the GT350 track. (not R)

I've also seen potential info on a LT5 engine via Katech, which I'm guessing/hoping is a high output NA LT1, with either 3 or 4 valve heads. I remember reading the original ls7 was a 3v head, but was scratched as it wasn't necessary. The 1990s zr1 was also a 32v lt1 style engine, called the LT5. I believe this may be the Z/28 and Z28 engine.

If so, the ass whooping between the SS and GT will be similar with the new Z/28

The LT5 was not an LT1 style engine. The only think it shared with the LT engine was the first 2 letters of the name.

You completely missed the point.

There was once a 32v LT5, back when there was an LT1. There is a rumor the LT5 is coming back and if history repeats itself it will be a 32v engine again.

I believe it shared bore and spacing with rhe LT1 as well, as a heritage type thing, even though Lotus said it would come at the cost of power. I'm sure in your continual effort to try and prove me wrong by arguing semantics you will spend the next 10 minutes on Google to find facts that say otherwise though... ;-)
