New Member Questions on Purchase
So I am looking to buy a 2016/2017 2SS and here are a list of questions I have before I buy.
1) Does the engine have the active fuel management where it shifts to 4 cylinders from v8? If so, how does this work on the manual. I know for the C7 in the manual you have to be in eco mode for it to shift to 4v, but there is no eco mode on the Camaro. 2) What is the difference between dual mode performance exhaust about $900, and the performance exhaust about $1900? 3) What are the reason to get the 2017 over the 2016? Right now I have an offer on a 2016 almost exactly how I wanted for almost 26% off sticker. 4) What all free stuff should I ask for when I purchase from the dealer? Thanks |

1) The manual doesn't have it.
2) the $900 option, NPP, is an axleback with valves and 4 tips that give you the option to close the outer tips to quiet down the exhaust by forcing all the exhaust gas thru the muffler, or have all 4 open, bypassing the muffler and being louder than stock. The $1900 one I believe is a catback with dual tips only and no volume control. 3) QC issues. The 16s have not been perfect, and you will be taking a chance with one. Check the build date; anything made before March is even riskier. 4) ???

Look at the checklist too. A lot of the things have been addressed by now, but it's still a good idea to look one over.
+1 for what T805 said about March, Mosaic Black in particular had a lot of paint coverage problems. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...ight=checklist

for 26% off I'd run with the '16 and don't expect any freebies or kickbacks with that. there are no differences between model years. good luck!

Read through the thread I linked, then go through the tsb, recall, warranty, issue, sub-forum. Read anything with more than 3 pages of content.
Paint, seats, toe links, oil system bolts, rear-end noise, displays, headliner fitment, npp rattle they never really fixed, etc etc These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head that were common and a real gripe instead of a one off individual car problem. There's probably a few I forgot, but they'll be in the issues sub-forum.

1) Automatic trans only. It is completely automated and will shift into V4 within about 3 seconds of cruising. (Love this feature)
2) The 900 one is NPP as mentioned it opens and closes baffles to make it quicker or louder depending on your driving preference, it can be linked to driving mode or set individually 3) What are the reason to get the 2017 over the 2016? Right now I have an offer on a 2016 almost exactly how I wanted for almost 26% off sticker. I don't think the 2017 will have less issues then the 2016, i have a very early 2016 and almost all of the issues known to the car and the dealer is fixing everyone under warranty no questions asked. heres a video i made pointing them out - Just thoroughly inspect the car and get the bugs worked out. The 2017's will have there own unknown bag of fun! 4) Get window tint thrown in! |

I have to agree except for poor paint coverage on early cars, they're holding guys over the coals on that issue. Plus from what I've read if you are able to get it repainted by the dealer without lawyering up, you can say goodbye to your factory paint warranty. You need a nice sunny day, look in the door jams, trunk inside and out, hood, and where the rear fenders blend with the roof.
