The Possibility of a Turbo 4 1LE
Recently from an interview with Big Al...
What do you guys think? Are hints being dropped? Would anyone be interested? Personally, the 2.0T is much more appealing to me than the V6. It doesn't seem far-fetched that a 2.0T 1LE would come into the fray. I like this idea and I truly hope GM pursues this route. Let the 1LE be for all engines! My guess is they made a conscious decision to offer the 1LE package on one other Camaro model as an alternative option to the SS, for those that either didn't want to spend the extra money or had no need or desire for the V-8.
Anything beyond that might be viewed as a dilution of the 1LE nameplate. Just my .02. |

I hope they build it, not sure why they didn't decide to build it already. I personally wouldn't pick it over a V6 1LE, specially if there was only a $1500 price difference like there is with the other models. It should be a about $2500 cheaper though cause you can't get NPP with the four cylinder.

I would like to see the 1LE available for the turbo 4 cyl.
I would like to see how the V6 and turbo 4 perform with the SS version of the 1LE.

Didn't Al O say that there would not be a 4 cyl 1LE but that there would be a sportier version that the cobalt SS guys would want to trade in their cars for it? I believe it was in an interview with the fast lane car.

There will NOT be a 1LE version of the 2.0T. ONLY LT and SS.
HOWEVER, he did say with Chevy performance, you WILL Be able to purchase 1LE parts SEPARATE and put em on the car EXCEPT the eLSD. |

But it sounds as though, if there's enough interest, they could offer some sort of performance handling package for the 4 cylinder car...maybe? |

Not to sound like one of those honda fanboys... but if you put say 5-6 grand into that engine... maybe add a second stock turbo, could be pretty mean... no?

+ it isnt enough of a sacred cow to have a limited model (and if you thought it did, the V6 broke down that barrier) + it represents a focused performance model + it brings performance brand recognition to the Camaro + fast and furious crowd will bring recognition to the 1LE badge + it will cost minimal $$$ to release +1LE badging will attract customers wary of old camaro handling stigma As Al O. stated... there are ALOT of folks out there who have been waiting for a 2.0T Camaro and you will see some really wild engine modding... for a start... about +100 tq/ +50 hp with just an ECU flash... It will be competing with cars such as the GTI, BRZ, Focus RS.... these are considered "premium" in terms of handling and performance value in the 4 cylinder world... Alot of these potential customers know NOTHING about the current camaro, and are used to slagging the car from old reputation and heresay... " ahhh man?! you bought a crappy camaro?! why did you do that man?!, your autocross civic was the BOMB!..." " nahh man, this is a 1LE, its like a special handling edition, its not like all those old camaros that could only go fast in a straight line...." You need a premium badge/package to raise above an uninformed public's belief that the 4 cylinder camaro is just a base model car.... I think it would be a GREAT move by Chevy to offer a 1LE package because it will mean that the cars will handle great from the get-go, and will be able to handle alot more extra power that will come from the aftermarket. Think of how positive the impact will be when a modder gets featured in an article and states that he only had to do engine mods because GM had set up the suspension and handling so well.... As it stands, a 3300# turbo-1LE with the SS handling components would be able to handle up to the 450 hp on a stage 2/2.5 modded car...

Chevy needs to make or at least let you build all the model camaro like you want them. A 3300lb 2.0T 1LE would run the 2.0t and under segment of cars period. The brz, frs, gti, Hyunda,i ae86, etc wouldn't come close to 1LE 2.0T. The Golf R would have problems as well. Plus you can race them in all series of racing and dominate with any engine Chevy uses. Some folks just don't like V8. Stop trying to sell cars and let us buy them. Chevy I know you listening so make this happen. I need a new daily and you know I drive every car I own rain sleet or snow. That included the 2015 Z/28 I had. PS, I want 6 piston front brakes and Ediff on my 2.0T 1LE.
