Safety features not standard?

I noticed on the order guide that Blind Zone/Rear Cross traffic alerts is only on 2LT/2SS? How are safety features like this not standard?

Also what is Rear Park Assist? It already has the camera and I doubt they would make you pay more for a simple beeping to go along with it. Is it a self parking thing?

Not government mandated. Would add extra cost to the 1LT and 1SS if they were standard which would result in a $28,695 base price for 1LT and $39,295 for 1SS. People would really freak!

Only rear view cameras are "required" in the NHTSA rule change.

If I remember, new models introduced after June 1st 2014 must have them by May 1st 2016. Existing models not replaced by newer models must have them by May 1st 2018.

Because most drivers do not need/want them. Personally, I have gotten by just fine by turning my head & looking to see if there is something in my way.

Also, you seem to forget that the Camaro does come with quite a few standard safety features:

Seat belts (with pretensioners)
Airbags (multiple)
Anti-lock brakes
Traction control
Stability control
Back up camera (limited usefullness, IMO)

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but you get the point

I figured features like these in 2015+ would be quite inexpensive by now and since the government is so aggressive with distractions like texting, they would be standard. I didn't realize they would cost about 2k.

Not gonna stop me from purchasing, I was just wondering.

I think Rear Park Assist will have those moving guildlines... which turn as you turn your steering wheel plus beeping... This is my guess

I'd rather not have all that crap on my car.

Also, for those of us with radar detectors, unless you have one of the few expensive high-end models that can tell the difference, the lane assist crap is going to more-or-less render your detector useless.

IF they /we were really concerned about our safety, there would be no texting or cell phone calls while in motion.

When I bought my 2013 Pilot, in order to get side markers on my side mirrors, I had to add a $2000 Nav package.

If you take a look at 80 or 90% of the manufactures, they all package. Acura, at least when I bought my 2010 TSX, all their models had two options, base or Tech package - oh you want push button start you say, that'll be $3500 cuz only available in the tech package, etc. etc. It is what it is and is not unique to the Camaro or almost any other car you can buy.
