Will the GEN6 be real, or will the sound system, create, engine sounds.

Will they, or won't they, generate engine sounds, via the GEN6 sound system...

This is something that I really hope, that they don't go there...
It disturbs me, that some manufactors, need to do this.

Does GM even do this, on any models… ???
I sure hope not, but with this being done on the new Mustang,
I wonder if GM will follow, this really dumb idea.

If they do this hideous thing, we must destroy it...

I bet it's real. With the dual mode exhaust and the fuse pull, I can clearly hear my exhaust even with the radio on and windows up. Everyone that has ridden in my car comments on how good it sounds. I would be pretty bummed if they made it that quiet.

I just hope they don't play any exhaust / engine sounds through the sound system, regardless of how loud the exhaust is. It just doesn't seem right. The exhaust should speak for itself!

This is typically for turbo 4 cars since they sound terrible to begin with. Don't think that will ever be a problem for a v8 camaro

Listen to the Corvette lt1 exhaust note, no need for fabricated sounds with this engine.

Fake engine sound is the worst thing to happen for cars in modern times.. It'd be ashamed to drive with a fake exhaust note and would pull the fuse if it was my ecoboost. But honestly, the ecoboost sounds like crap. The more they open up the exhaust the worse it is:(

in some cars, the sound isn't fake. its actual engine noise being piped into the cabin, either way im not a fan of it and I really hope the Camaro isn't subject to it.

I can attest to this. Turbo 4s (or even most 4s for that matter) sound like absolute crap.

I'm pretty sure it's not the worst thing and I'm also pretty sure you wouldn't be ashamed to drive an M3/4.

You have to keep in mind for some people this is just an extension of tuning the exhaust.

That all being said, when I was at GM I had a lengthy discussion on "genuineness" with a car guy who I really trust. He didn't have an issue with it. I DID and DO.

Genuineness.............................

I'm with most other people on this thread. Would strongly not like it if there were fake engine noise in the car

I like, to, also talk like, Christopher. Walken

JK man. Seriously though, I doubt GM would do that. We've heard from videos that it's fairly loud right now

V8 option....no way. Maybe piping in like GT does, but no fake.

V6 option...very doubtful. V6 actually sounds pretty decent in the cabin and if you read other reviews of the V6 (and especially turbo V6) in the ATS reviewers have commented on how well they sound inside the cabin.

T4....I think its a possibility, but I hope they don't (b/c I'm afraid if they do, they'll do it on the V6 as well) and honestly, I don't think its necessary.

My vote: Leave it all natural.

A clue may be if GM modifies the sound in other makes...Malibu?...Cadillac?...Sonic?? that have an I-4, turbo 4, etc..?

If a smaller engine makes a naturally crappy sound, especially inside the cabin, doing something to mask it or modify it for interior comfort wouldn't be a bad thing....
