Moving to an apartment...

In two weeks, I am moving to an apartment. My Camaro has been garage kept since it was purchased so I am bummed because there will be no way to protect my car. (No garage). I will not be able to wash it by hand there. I also worry about parking it in an open parking lot with others every night. the trade off....
I am having a new house built and will have a nice three car garage with plenty of room. If only June came sooner...

Rent a storage garage for 4 months. I did that with my C6 for a while to store one winter when I was between houses. Its not that big a deal.

Then store the car, and buy a cheap beater for a couple of hundred that you can get around in till then

Find that *ideal* parking area in the apartment complex where nobody parks. An end spot would be perfect so you can park as close to the curb as possible. This allows enough room on the exposed side of the car in case an ignorant door dinger person parks next to you.
As for washing the car, maybe borrow a friend's hose at their house. The coin-op car washes is an option too. Just use the rinse option to water down the car, fill up your soap bucket, and rinse the car off.

That sux! My last apt didnt have designated spots and I worried so much about my car! Didnt help it was vandalized either. When looking for my current apt, it was a requirment that it had its own spot. I pay extra for a carport. Is this an option for you? I love my apt, no issues at all but Ill be moving into a house soon and my baby will be a garage queen lol.

Congrats on your house!!!

find any car

you could get lucky and nothing will happen to your car at the apartments (try to park next to other nice cars).

Find a friend who will trade cars with you?

But i will bet u can find a cheap car for 500.

Note: IF a house is being built for you, and you are having it financed, then its probably a BAD thing to open any new accounts until you close on the house first.

What's this garage kept concept that I keep reading about? Is it some type of myth?

I've lived in nothing but apartments since I bought my Camaro a little over 2 years ago.

Dude, I've been living in apartments or aboard small boats for the last forty-one years. Houses with garages are waaay too expensive in California for all but the wealthy few. The only way this school teacher will ever own a house is through inheriting his father's house, and it is ninety-seven years old with a garage originally built for stabling horses.

I definitely can't open a new account or make any major purchases,so I guess I'll just have to play it safe everyday and look for the sweet spot. I might have my wife park her car somewhere that is good during the day and when I get home I can swap it out.

thanks for all the tips.

I live in an apartment complex also and my camaro is my DD. I am able to park right outside my window so I can always check in on her. So far nothing has gone wrong, knock on wood.
