Was at one of the local Chevy dealerships here in my town a few hours ago, stopped in while taking my Mustang in for a estimate on a door ding. I stopped by because I saw a really cool Camaro, so I wanted to take a look.

I never really have seen a Camaro that I absolutely no doubt loved, until today. There, on the lot was a 2012 Yellow 2SS/RS Transformers Edition Camaro - WOW! That thing was beautiful, carbon fiber stripes, HID lamps, black rims, Pirelli tires, big rear spoiler and the GM ground effects package.

Needless to say I fell in love...immediately, lol. So, I go inside to talk to a sales person to see what the ADM would be on the car. This young guy about 10 or so years older than me talked to me, said he couldn't even let me sit in the car because it was a "special edition".

That's fine, I wasn't going to buy anyway, I just wanted to see if everything my fellow Mustang people bash on you guys was true (Blind spots, steering wheel sucking, no Nav, etc.). After him saying no I couldn't sit in it, he went on to tell me how bada$$ this car is and how much power its got.
I was like, okay guy yes it has over 400HP and all that stuff..but it's a Camaro. Then he started telling me how Chevy is the reason Ford brought back the 5.0 and introduced the new 3.7 liter V6 (Which is what I have). I really didn't believe him, cus I thought that was all BS.

He continued to talk to me about how much better a Camaro is than a Mustang and even a Challenger. At first I thought he was just slamming me cus how old I am, but then I shut up and listened to him and well I will be d***ed, this dude was talking about real stuff. The Mustang's Sync system relies on phone service to call 911 in event of a crash, OnStar uses GPS, 5 Star Crash Rating, 320 something HP in the V6, LS3/L99 Motor, etc.

After I started listening, this salesperson turned me into a Chevy fan. I still didn't believe what he said to me about the 5.0. He said that Ford brought back the 5.0 just to compete with Chevy's V6 Camaro. Hmmm, what a load of poo. That can't be true, can it?

Turns out it can. I looked up 2010 Camaro vs. Mustang horsepower and specs, and well I will be danged. The 2010 Mustang GT 4.6L had like less than 10 horsepower more than the 2010 Camaro 1LT V6. WTF. lol that's funny stuff right there. Sure, the Camaro might be heavier, a little, but not too heavy.

I always thought based on all the crap I hear on the Mustang forums I visit that the Camaro was just a half attempt to beat the Mustang, but that is so not true.

It is just the opposite. From my thoughts, the Mustang might have been first on the block (Ford trying to copy the Corvette), but the Camaro really came and let Ford know to stop selling $hit and to get their act together. That letter your CEO sent to Ford saying that the Camaro is the reason the Mustang is advancing in (ancient) technology is actually true!

I really don't see any point in my Mustang anymore, the Camaro really seems the proper choice of vehicle.

I also looked up Chevy vs Ford trucks, and wow the trucks Chevy puts out are even better than the F150. WOW.

Chevy, you have a new fan in me.

For now, I shall sit with my Mustang, waiting until I can trade in for a Transformers Edition 2SS.



I hope someone from the Mustang Forums see's this post and know's who I am, that way I can have an excuse to go over there and tell them what I think of the Mustang. (It doesn't help that the 2011 Mustang V6 I drive has a chitty motor with a huge accelorator delay, or that my Sync system sucks a$$ and had to be reset with a fuse pull just 5 minutes ago....)

I hope this post is welcomed on here and taken the right way, no bad intentions were meant by this post. I just wanted to share my new found love for the Camaro!

Well thats silly that they wouldnt let u sit in it isnt that how they sell cars? Let u sit in it then driving it will make u fall in love...I debated between the mustang, challenger, & camaro. After 3 months and a ton of research the camaro was the obvious choice. Very very happy with my decision. Hope to c ur new camaro soon

For me, I really wanted the Challenger, but the first year's cars were all girly-matics, so no go. I put my money down on the 2SS and never looked back. It is an ooh soo fine car. Just lookin' at it always makes me feel happy. Buy one for yourself, and dig on the swag you get.

While this may be true, have you ever had a GPS system when it is cloudy outside? If not, try it out and see how well that works.

Why not talk to a competent salesperson, and order one when you can? When you are ready, start by talking with Becky D on the forums here. From what I have heard she gives one heck of a deal.

We welcome you to the cool side. Once you take a Camaro for a test drive you'll throw rocks at mustangs.

Glad you like the Camaro and found the truth out about the car but at the same time I wouldnt knock the mustang. The mustang is a great car. Brother has an 05. But the new 3.7 with an M6 will beat our V6 stock for stock and the 5.0 aganst the LS3 is a drivers race. All in all, its great to be able to choose from 3 great cars, the Chally, Mustang and Camaro. All are great in their own ways, which one suits you best is most important.
As for the blindspots. You get used to them within 10 minutes. But if you go back inside a stang afterwards you realize how bad it is in the camaro lmao. But set your mirrors right with the Camaro and you have all the visibility you need

They had 2 of these @ the Motor Trend Car Show in Baltimore. One inside and one outside to test drive, weird they wouldn't let you sit in it. But then I remember buying my 1st Iroc in '85. They wouldn't let me take it out on the road, I had to test drive in the parking lot. After I "test" drove it the salesman was backing it back into the space it came from, he backed into another car.

Note: you can not order the Transformer Edition, it ended I believe January 5th. What is out there, is all there ever will be. If all the 5th Gen special editions so far, the Transformer cars are the most limited with something around 1200 made in 2010 and we are guessing similar number this year.

Based on that, you are likely to be buying a used one, unless you act quickly.

I am knocking partly cus of it (my car) being a V6, but also for all the crazy problem's I have had with the car and the dealerships not doing jack **** about it. I would get into details on my problems, but that would start a huge thread about how much the Mustang sucks, and I am sure you guys don't want a forum war about a beaten topic.

Who cares if the 2011 V6 Mustang can beat the V6 Camaro, I don't like the way V6 Mustang's look. Well...Camaro's either. That is a different story though.

I am sure the 'blindspots' are not too bad, prolly easy to get adjusted to.

I will have to build my own after work today, thanks! I will post so you guys can see what Mustang driver thinks a Camaro should look like.

The salesperson did say a GPS system is what allows OnStar to call emergency help when you press the little OnStar button. I'm not too sure on that, but hey I don't own a Camaro yet, lol. I guess I will research that after work. Thank you guys for clarifying this for me!

I figured the Transformers was not a "Special Edition", but only a appearance package (that looks way cool btw). I asked if this was the only year for the Transformers package, and the sales person said "yep, this is a one year only package, very rare). I guess that's not true?

I will have to go back sometime soon and talk to a different sales person, I couldn't even sit in the car...sigh.

I noticed that too, maybe hes just misquoting the sales person. How it really is is that the mustang relies on YOUR cellphone having service and being on and not smashed in an accident to call 911. OnStar has a 3W digital cellphone built in that will work even when a regular phone won't.

As for GPS not working when its cloudy both OnStar and my Cellphone have never had a problem getting a GPS signal even in the worst of conditions. Theres 31 GPS satellites currently in orbit right now and you only need signals from 4 of them to get a position.

GPS isn't affected by clouds, but can be affected by atmospheric conditions. I get rain here all the time, and is never an issue.

What IS the issue with GPS, at least here up in the northern lattitudes, is that trees block the signal. Here in the Northwest, we have lots of trees. And lots of roads cut through a forest, so you have this steep "canyon" of trees. So if you're going east west, those trees will block the signal. Actually, I had more issue with Sirius/XM because of that, but sometimes my GPS (both Onstar and my Garmin) have been affected by trees surrounding the car.
