New track setup for 200TW classes
Well guys as some of you aware I mostly run MICHELIN Slicks on track days but both SCCA and APEX HPDE have some VERY competitive 200TW classes that I want to run in.
After some surveying of the guys that run that class ALOT the current feedback I got was that FALKEN AZENIS RT660 seem to be the flavor of the month so what you see in the pics below is what I will be running. Now I have NEVER thought much about running a tire that had any tire poke especially for daily driving but since I will run this setup on the track only; then I compromised a little on that on the REAR wheels. I run APEX 18 x 11 ET25 BMW spec wheels ALL the way around and I have mounted on them 315 30 18 RT660's. There is NO tire poke at the TOP of the wheel well on the FRONTS because I am running -3.7 CAMBER. On the rears it looks like I have MAYBE 5-10MM tire poke at top of wheel well. I DO RUN a 5MM spacer on the fronts. Rear camber is -2.7. The GOOD NEWS is that since these tires have ROUNDED edges instead of a squared off edge like my slicks do then you have a little more room. Technically if the rears had ET35 instead of ET25 than THAT would eliminate the tire poke. My next competitive event is april 9th at MSR on the 3.1 with the APEX LAP ATTACK folks so I will let you know how these perform.

Those look great and the 660 is a very good tire. I run ET35s all the way around (26mm front spacer) with my 18s and man did I have to clearance the strut!

I just installed (Saturday) similar setup on my ZLE as you; BC Forged 19s with 305f 315r Azenias 660s. Took off and stored the OEM wheels with the GY SC3Rs. Took the car for a drive (first time out; salts finally gone here!) and holy shit!!! These tires are GREAT!!! (especially for what they are; a 200tw real street tire). They are a thousand times better than the SC3R for street driving (way more compliant. Much better grip in most situations (the SC3R needs some real heat to work). Way less tram lining and noise. And MUCH nicer less harsh ride. The RT660s definitely don’t have the ultimate grip that the SC3R has when it’s fully warmed up, but they are very good (I did about 25 miles of back road bombing on the 660s on Saturday). Damn I really couldn’t be happier with these 660s. The OEM wheels with SC3R (at least for me, and of course only my opinion) will only go back on the car if/when I ever do a track day with it (unlikely, as I own two other full race track cars), or when I auction it off when I’m old and grey and no longer can drive a 6m! Big thumbs up from me on these 660s.

A couple friends were running RT660s on Saturday at the RevMatch event in Joliet, including one in my former heavily-modded 96 Corvette. Keep in mind the ambient temps never got much above 42F, but the Falkens did very well and never got greasy or overheated for them. For a heavy Camaro6 on a hot day, they probably do eventually get hotter than ideal, and that's where the Goodyear seems to be at its best. Also, I'm using the Falkens for autocross events. They will get noisier for street driving as they wear, believe me. But they still street drive very well if you choose to do that. They aren't great in the rain, but they are probably a little better than the Goodyears when it's wet.

I'll see you April 9th at MSR for APEX LAP ATTACK. Looks like we're in the same group.

LAP ATTACK 4 group I think. I am not too keen on the 3.1 but will see. For those that are wondering HP is just ONE of the parameters. The most SIGNIFICANT ones are tires class and car weight.

I come up with LA3 if you’re 3501-4k on 200tw with your wing and 475rwhp?
