Competition mode

When at a stop do I have to floor it all the way to get it to work?or can I Rev it to 4k and drop from there?

I think you're referring to Launch Control, not Competition Mode.

Comp Mode is entered while in Sport or Track by pressing the TCS button twice. Launch Control is then available to you by holding the clutch in, car in 1st gear and rapid full accelerator application. When you release the clutch, LC will handle your acceleration through 1st gear.

I've read the manual and it states to put the accelerator to the floor but I didn't know if it kicked in based in wheel spin and thus didn't have to put it down all the way.

It's operated as stated in the manual, it will control wheel spin for you on launch not based on pedal input from launch. It's supposed to allow for an optimal amount of spin (note, not 0 spin) to get you moving, but not so much that you lose time or control. I can't tell you how/where it holds RPM on Gen6, but in Gen5, you'd notice it in operation because the RPMs would hold below redline even when floored.

Nope, gas pedal to the floor, every time you use launch control (which only active in competition mode). The computer will hold rpms where they need to be...then you quickly let out the clutch (don't dump it), while continuing to hold the accelerator to the floor.

honestly i think LC revs too high for stock tires. i think mid 2k rpm, little slip with clutch, and then hit it and let the torque pull you out. i havent been to the track yet tho. i want to play with my 60' soon

First- thank you for the answers
second- anyone use this on the street?
third- im still braking in the car, I assume the car tells you when LC is on? Id hate to attempt to use it and just launch a smokey burn out because it wasn't engaged.

You should notice that it holds the revs at the correct RPM. If it wasnt engaged you would just be hitting the limiter. (Based on my experience in a C7, Have not attempted in a manual Camaro yet.)

^ This. There is no message "Launch control on"...it'll hold the revs at a specific spot without hitting the redline when you mash the throttle.

It's a smart launch control function, so the computer uses temperature, barometer, oil temp, etc, etc, etc to determine the best rpm level to hold. So it varies. It usually hovers somewhere in the range of 4000 rpms.

Thank you.
I thought the manual said to dump the clutch. Is that not the case?

I actually did this with a friend in my car a few hours ago. Clutch all the way down when in track mode and competition mode acknowledged by the car. Gas pedal all the way down. My car held steady at about 4800, and I let the clutch out quickly. Maybe too quick. Car still peeled out with noticeable but not uncontrollable wheel spin. Stayed fairly straight.
