Installed weight Differential after 2650 Magnuson install

Title sums it up. Has anyone actually scaled the front wheels of a ZL-1 before and after a bone stock Magnuson 2650 install? Another words a 100% stock car before install and zero additional changes other than what is included in the kit?

Thank you

Hmm interesting, I don't know of anyone that has, but it would be interesting to know the difference. I know with mine after install it's waaaaaaaaay too fun when driving to even notice a difference haha

I can't see the 2650 weighing A TON more over the R1740. Why would they? The tire size of the vehicle is not changing so there is no need to modify anything in those parameters. Unless I'm missing something here.

The only difference is going to be the added weight of the larger rotor is my guess

You guys are correct, however I am looking for a exact figure. I called Magnuson, and somehow the guy I spoke with could not wrap his head around my very basic question. First he thought I was talking about a Vette, then he quoted me 2300 shipping weights, then he told me to call Chevrolet and ask them what the Chevy parts weigh as no one at Magnuson would know. Finally he asked me the rhetorical question if I knew why people were moving from CA to Texas when I asked him when their kit was going to get a CARB exemption...

That might actually be your best bet is to figure out what the different shipping weights are on a complete system

I knew that must be the sole reason, to be able to legally run those 2650 kits

I'd actually be interested in the shipping weight of the 2300 as that's what I have... do you recall perhaps what the rep said? Thanks in advance

Hi Rob sorry if I'm not making sense, or being clear (my wife tells me this often). What I mean is if you had the car on four scales, and weighed the car overall and checked the weights at each corner. Then you did the swap, and checked the figures. I realize it's a street car, but I have a ZLE and even if it hypothetically never hit the track, it's an important conversation (in my mind) when you're evaluating the potential benefits vs. additional front bias for a car designed for a road course.

First he told me 42 lbs and I believe 54 lbs for the second of two boxes, and then he was on a tangent about cardboard. I said to him you do realize the car already has a blower, that's when he told me I should call "Chevy"
Honestly I've been in this game way to long to have continued that conversation, but I did anyway.

Just as a side note, minutes before I called the dealer back in March to buy my car, I called Magnuson concerning their CARB status on the LT-4 kit as I knew it had been sent in to get a CARB number. I was told it was likely two weeks away from getting the CARB E.O. number....

I don't know the exact weight of a 1740 but my 2300 Maggie weighed 58 lbs, just the head unit. I switched to a 2650 and it was 78 lbs, all I did was swap the blower, not other changes since almost everything comes the same in both kits, just some hose/fittings are different.

I remember reading that the 1.7 is 20 lbs less than the LS9 2300, so that kinda helps answer the original question along with your 2650 weight. Not exact of course.
