Front Brake / Rotor issues

Hi my 19 ZL1 with 50.000 needes new rotors and I looked up some threads and lot of people said " don't buy the slotted/vented ones bc OEM are really great.
And bc I have a vert I didn't buy it for track days, so I thought if the OEM is good for guys that sometimes track them they've to be good for me too right?
I checked out some YT vids and saw that some guys put OEM rotors on and had the art numbers below their vids.
So I copied those numbers and what I got was AC Delco ones and correct me when I'm wrong but I checked out the Brembo website and the numbers were the same if I can recall.
Then when they came in the have a real weird grey coating on them and I thought that will go away with my new Powerstop ceramic brake pads.
So 500 miles later they still look dull and not shiny as normal rotors would look like and on top of that they car is shaking with hard breaking form 65+ miles.
So do anyone of you guys bought the same ones and tell me your experience please.

Yes. New rotors have a grey coating on them that is meant for anti corrosion. It is supposed to go away once after a while. Just give it some more time.

I replaced my rears last year and the coating did go away after a while but I wasn't paying attention for how long it took.

Did you burnish the brakes after replacing the rotors and pads? If not, it's not too late to do it now.

You probably have some buildup on the rotors that is what’s causing the shaking

Just a little open road, just run it hard to 60 and get on the brakes hard but no ABS if you can help it and not to a complete stop. Take it back to about 15 or 20mph and let it roll out a bit. Repeat. Like Arpads attachment. I have a frontage road close by on the undeveloped side of the interstate that works well.

Why did you get Powerstop brake pads? Is it a brake dust thing? I always use OEM pads, they can be bought on Amazon for $300 a full set F + R and they are some of the best in the world... the combination of ZL1 calipers, ZL1 rotors and SRF fluid with OEM pads is all you need to set the fastest laps on the most demanding tracks--I'm talking HPDE use not real racing, not endurance. Other pads like DS 1.11 are better (I love DS 1.11 my favorite), but they cost 3-4x a set of OEM ZL1 pads. DS 1.11 does last 3x as long so it basically offsets.

As far as dust, I can't see myself sacrificing some of the best stopping power of any sports car in the world for having less dust, just hit them with a hose and soap and a brush and most of it comes right off, 5-10 min to do this dry it with leaf blower.

If it were me I would use the OEM parts for the ZL1. May cost more but worth it in my honest opinion.

I changed mine after 1000 km because I was sick of the dust! The braking power is very compatible for me but I’m also not on a race track. I got the rotors I got the calipers, so I am willing to take a loss on the pads

Most mileage on a ZL1 is over 215k miles, no mods. That was a 2017 and the owner never had any issues. They used the OEM parts when something was in need of replacing too.

Some thoughts:
1. OEM rotors are great. Another option are DBA rotor rings from KNS Brakes
2. The AC Delco rotors are the same as OEM rotors
3. You should always clean new rotors with brake cleaner (unless zinc coated)
4. Definitely bed your pads following the correct procedure (Arpad shared above)
5. If you think there may be pad deposits on your rotors, grab a brake rotor hone to clean them up
