MRR M228

Wheel advise my fellow forum peoples. I want to pick up the MRR M228 rims for my garnet red tintcoat zl1. Big decision is the gunmetal or black.
My first choice us the gunmetal but the seems all the rage is black on black on black. I am more traditional and kinda like the gunmetal grey. Haven't seen many Camaro with the gunmetal most flock to the black.
Anyone have some pictures of either or both to compare??
Thank you in advance

I would go black as Red and grey don't look right together. My .02

MRR is working on a fully forged version of the M228 that will be a stock item in OEM size/offset, so no custom build. And they say they’ll be priced aggressively compared to their other forged wheels. There’s a thread about it somewhere, search Carlos@MMR’s posts. I would hold out for those if you can, otherwise you’re going from a fully forged factory wheel to a standard cast wheel.

I didn’t realize the stock wheels were forged. Thanks for posting that.

Street only wheel? If not, stay away from MMR.

Good point I did not know that the stock wheels are forged. I will definitely be waiting for a forged version of the M228 wheels. I can wait my car is still in winter storage. I am getting new tires this year and wouldnorefer to shoe up on new wheels.

Got the black for winter AS tires, better than what you'd expect for a knock off rim.

Nothing wrong with MMR wheels, if you are using them for the street.

M228 rims are flow formed. Not just cast

But the actual wheel face will be cast. I’d hold out for full forged IMO.

Does anyone know when MRR started flow forging the M228 wheels? When I was shopping wheels I didn’t want a low pressure cast wheel. This post was the source of my information at the time.

If you PM me I will send you a picture of a '19 ZL1, same color as yours, with custom HRE forged wheels in silver (almost a white silver). Will at least give you another perspective on wheel color.
