it's alright. Waze is better at finding quicker routes, alerting for police and other things.

WOO!! Apple iOS12 To Allow Third-party Navigation Apps In CarPlay - Available 9.17.18
The ability is enabled in iOS 12 (even the betas) but it is up to the app developers, specifically Google for Waze and Google Maps, to update their apps accordingly for comparability.
As a beta tester for Waze, and an iOS 12 beta user, the compatibility ability for Waze, and Google Maps, has not yet been updated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by ecko04; 09-14-2018 at 06:02 AM. |

Apple Maps was horrible in the beginning but there have been many updates and it is now on par with most, I prefer it over my old Garmin navigation software and use it all the time. As some others noted there are other apps with additional features such as Waze, and it is nice to have the option to use another based on your plans.

I've been using Waze and my Garage Door Opener app on CarPlay using a jailbroken iPhone (11.3.1) and the CarBridge tweak for a couple months. Works pretty well.

Here Maps is good I had it on my Windows phone, got it on my iPhone now, I used it on vacation a few times never got lost & you can use it walking to and use it offline so no wasting data like other maps.

Been driving in my city for 20 years and I still check Google Maps out of curiosity whenever I drive somewhere. 99% of the time I agree with the route that Google Maps suggests, avoiding routes with bad traffic. I check Apple Maps a few times a week or so and noticed that it doesn't seem to care about heavy traffic unless the traffic is basically at a stand still. I regularly see Apple Maps suggesting very bad routes while Google Maps provides the best route 99 times out of 100.
Also my street was built two years ago and Google Maps has displayed my street for a little over a year, Apple Maps still doesn't have my street. |

I noticed today when I updated to the public release, a lot of apps updated. So fingers crossed Waze releases their update soon, before the public release
