2018 Mustang GT does 11.83 @119.5

http://www.hotrod.com/articles/drag-...rd-mustang-gt/
Just saw this. It’s a bone-stock $53,000 Mustang GT Premium. Performance pack, magnetic suspension, active exhaust, and basically every comfort and convince option available. Keep in mind that this is done on Michelin PS4 tires, which are grippier than the Eagle F1 tires on the 1LE and ZL1.

Another interesting point: “Weather conditions were indeed favorable, I recorded 57 degrees, barometric pressure of 30.10, and the humidity was super low for Florida (even in December) at 26 percent. This equated to a Density Altitude of just a few feet above sea level. There was also a slight cross/tailwind, maybe 5-8 mph. “

That strip has really good prep too.

What are your thoughts on this time? I want to see an SS1LE run on the same track in the same conditions, because that’s the closest thing to this mustang. But even then, the mustang has an automatic. I know drag times are stupid and all but you don’t believe that a GT PP loaded with options and only 420lb-ft can outrun an SS 1LE, do you?
But a 60-ft of 1.881 is kinda impressive.

Does anyone with an SS 1LE have a time slip?

What are your thoughts on this run?

Oh boy here we go..

BTW, you'll want to compare the GT A10 to the A8 SS for drag racing.
Many A8 SS's cutting 1.8 60ft's

The 1LE is no quicker than a standard 1ss or 2ss manual in a drag race.

The 1LE will likely outclass the GT in any form in a road race.
The 1LE is intended for road course racing not drag.

I just got a pair of the PS4S's and they do hook up good. For the few chances I got to test them before it got cold they appeared to completely hook in second and slightly spin in 1st. I can't really remember exactly how good the GYs did when they were new but I do think the PS4S's put more power to the ground.

How did I miss any previous mentions of this pass? I’m whorin’ it up on here very day and haven’t seen it. Must be buried in one of the endless threads that went nowhere forever until someone posted it.

So, bone stock Convertible ZL1 3/4 tank of fuel. Me knob newby Driver- 11.40 at 125 and 11.54 all day. I have not raced in years. And even that, I only have maybe 20 passes in my life My first pass ever in the car was 11.98 and I didn’t even get the burnout right... so if this premium pass on a perfect day for a mustang excites you, well.... I have video and time slips. Just think if I had tires and a track prep... 1/8th tank gas I believe 10.9s are very doable in my big 4000 lbs of Convertible rolling permagrin.

When they bust 11.5s all day at 4000lbs of car I will put my stock ZL1 against any of the new cars.

oh wait I’m 4th on the fast list for bone stock car..

Evan Smith has thousands and thousands of trips down the track too. He ran a 12.8 in a 98 Z28 6M back in 98. I dont understand all the hate on the Mustang. That is impressive no matter how you slice it. 119.5 is crazy for a stock N/A 5.0 engine with that weight. Cmon GM, give us a SS A10!!

other than the initial launch the driver plays no part in how fast the run is, it's an auto and all he is doing is trying to push the pedal through the floor and steering.
