Battery Cover removal
So I want to add a battery monitor to my 2017 SS Camaro. Pulled the cover back in the trunk and there is a big plastic cover over the positive terminal.
How do you remove that cover? Didn't want to break it! What are the little plastic clips on the side? They broke off!! Thanks,

It comes off, and that is where I tapped into the terminals for my battery tender to attach. Couple of minutes with a dremel tool, and now the cap is adapted for the terminal connection.

Press both tabs on each side with your index and thumb at the same time then slide it back(towards the middle of the trunk). Its a real special design...I cursed at it for about 5minutes the other day after snapping off those little tabs as well.

I had left that black cover off in the trunk as i have my 2 battery tender leads going to them as my garage is tight in the front with no way for me to open the hood. When i use my battery tender i just plug it into the lead coming from the battery in the trunk and wire down the bumper works out fine.

That looks a lot easier than ripping open that trunk liner then trying to get that plastic cover off.
Thanks I bought a Bluetooth battery monitor and will hook up that way. (Saw someone else here on the forum with it and looks like a good idea.) Thanks |

Yeah that was me....Once I got off the batt cover in the rear I threw it away, not worried about it, and installed a fuse block thT came out and mounted on the wall so that I could mount things to it and never have to take off the wall again

I asked about this hookup in another thread. Didn't see this one. #6 is used on mine but I'm guessing it's safe to hook a tender to 4 or 5? I believe the nut needed is an M4 or M5. I plan to snag a few from work today and take home to see what fits. Will let you know.
Also, is the fuse box mounting stud on the right shown in above pick a good place for the charger ground?

Can I get a M6 nut from Lowes or Home Depot? All the nuts I have start to screw on then stop after 3 or 4 turns.
Also on my car there is something on post number 6. So only 4 and 5 are open. Not sure what it is on 6. |
