Question New to Camaros (2021 LT1)...do I have AFM?

ISSUE RESOLVED...THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT. OF COURSE, YOU ARE RIGHT AND I FOLLOWED A RABBIT HOLE WITH AI (much to my surprise, as I use it frequently in my data analysis work).

I bought a beautiful 2021 LT1 two weeks ago. I only drove it twice before snow fell and the roads got salted.

So instead of driving it, I am learning all I can abou it. I keep reading about Active Fuel Management in which four cyclinders get turned off in certain conditions, however, ChatGPT (paid version, deeper thinking) is insisting that NO V8 LTI-based Camaro has AFM, regardless of being an automatic or manual transmission. Chat has my VIN and RPO and says AFM is not possible on any V8 Camaro.

Reddit has been of little help...no one has actually proven that AFM exists in their car, nor have I seen pics or videos that are indisuputable.

So what is the truth, do I have AFM or not?

If you look up the LT1 engine specs for the 6th Gen Camaro, you’ll see that they all have AFM. GM has used LT1 as the designation for several different generations of V8 engines. Previous generations of the LT1 did not have AFM.

Chat keeps telling me no, and refuting EVERYTHING I give it. For example:

⭐ NOW, THE REALITY ABOUT YOUR CAR
✔ Your actual build sheet = LT1

(Performance engine, NO AFM hardware)

✔ Your RPO list = no AFM codes
✔ Camaro LT1 = solid valley cover, not AFM solenoid assembly
✔ Camaro LT1 = non-collapsible lifters
✔ Camaro LT1 ECM = no AFM tables or logic
✔ No sixth-gen Camaro V8 has EVER shown a real V4 mode
✔ Tons of confusion online comes from:

Fifth-gen L99 AFM V8

GM trucks

Misleading AI blog posts

People misreading MPG/eco indicators

Maybe stop using ChatGPT and do your own research?

There is nothing wrong with using AI to assist with research. I have pages of text from Chat citing very technical reasons to refute AFM. I am an enthusiast at best, so I cannot tell quickly what is entirely accurate or not. Even in the case of the link you provided, Chat says that the engine architecture can support AFM, but that it was not used on that engine block in performance cars, but it was for truck applications. So, as someone new to the discussion, I am not in a position to just dismiss what it says just because its AI.
I am not trying to find fault in anyone's argument. Rather, I was just trying to educate myself when I came acros lots of bad press about AFM, hence a deeper dig into the matter.

Except maybe the responses you are likely to get.

While I appreciate you're trying to learn, and you're using tools that you have available, ChatGPT is heavily prone to what is known as hallucinating (confidently stating incorrect information as "fact").

Go ask ChatGPT this exact question and you will get a very different answer: "which motors in the sixth generation chevrolet camaro have automatic fuel management in them?"

LOL. If our AI overlord says it, it must be true!

Welcome to Camaro6! Keep that thing in the garage today if you are from Michigan. Two or three inches of snow and freezing rain where I am at.

EVERY SINGLE question I have asked ai in regard to cars that I already know the answer too has been wrong. Google your car questions, click links and do the actual research

Hooray for AI. You should probably use it for more of a "just for fun" kind of thing. Otherwise, you get threads like this...

Details about the AFM are abundant on these forums, and actual internet searches would have got you the correct answer

All LT1 v8 6th gen camaros have AFM parts. Only automatic cars have the system turned on.

next time you drive it on the highway click down to the trip and gas mileage screen and it will say V4 mode. uses it to save fuel when cruising.

He doesn't need it since (only) his engine didn't come with AFM

Throwing my 2¢, while AI is very fun and helpful, in technical aspects like this thread’s it will very likely not give correct answers. An example of which I’ve attached as a photo, this was just 4 questions into a new chat.

(The SS used a different variant of the TR-6060, not the TR-3160)
