Wind Buffeting Finally Fixed – My DIY Solution

Hey everyone,
Like most of you, I got tired of the insane wind buffeting that happens with the windows down at highway speeds. I’ve been experimenting with some A-pillar trim add-ons made from lightweight composite material that totally killed the buffeting on my car.
After a bunch of trial and error, I finally have a version that fits really clean and looks OEM-plus. The difference is night and day—no more pressure pulse or ear-drum popping, even at higher speeds.
If anyone’s been fighting this same issue and wants to see what I came up with, shoot me a PM or check out my build thread—I posted photos and some install notes there. Always happy to share what worked for me and answer questions about materials, mounting, etc.

Ordered a pair of each (original and XL), thank you very much for your work on these I'm excited to see how much they help with wind buffeting, whether the windows are partially or fully down.

Please make a post or (if you dont mind) lmk which of the 2 you liked more. Im very interested. I dont have the PDR but the 1 annoying thing about the car is the wind noise at higher speeds.

I got the original, smaller deflectors from Wilder (no PDR in my car, so no mics to shield from wind), and they work well. I just did a track weekend at NCM last weekend. I had a passenger for the last session, and we were able to converse pretty well, even at speed.

Sounds great, thank you, Sir.

I'll test them and post my experience. Hope the weather will eventually cooperate, given these darn thunderstorms and the incoming arctic blast.

Sweet! Looks like I will be ordering a set.

Is XL just for PDR equip cars?

The XL is bigger and quiets buffeting more than the original, and apparently the PDR mic(s) is in a vulnerable spot for wind noise and the XL does an especially better job for it. But you can use the XL version on any 6th-gen Camaro. I stuck with the original "small" version because it looks less intrusive and more like the car came equipped with it from the factory.

I currently have the Strano deflectors installed. The Strano ones significantly cut down the buffeting, especially at track speeds 90-140mph. But they don't eliminate it.

Does anyone know how effective these are by comparison?

Strano doesn’t do them anymore for some reason. The other stark difference between the two is Strano’s were more expensive and were a 3m stick on solution. I 3D scanned and reverse engineered the original and these fit like OEM using OEM hardware.
