Headers and wire harness protection
Just put on headers, wrapped the wire harness with DEI heat shroud. Is this good enough protection/clearance from the headers?

Thanks for the reassurance!
Does the velrco on the heat shroud hold up pretty well?

What I would be concerned with and I brought this up in a FB thread before... is the front right brake line that is extremely close to the header tube. I removed my line and using a bending tool I bought at O'reilly's, straightened out the first two bends and relocated it to exit the frame ahead of the subframe mount instead of behind it. I then used the DEI sleeve to cover the brake line to offer more resistance to heat. I have run a dozen trackdays since this change on my ZLE with zero heat related issues to the wiring or my brake line. My apologies for not having photos of this at the time, as I purged my iPhone to make more space for current upgrades. Hope this helps. |

That should be good to go.

Use one of those zip ties that has a push lock fastener on it. Then use the existing hole in the frame right there to push the fastener into and then zip tie the harness down. Re-install the coolant reservoir with the harness running along in the inside between the frame and reservoir.
The Velcro holds up fine as long as there isn't direct contact.

He means cable ties with a [Christmas] tree mount like the one in this pic. You can push the clip section into a hole in the frame, then you can use the zip tie section as usual, it will be held in place by this solid mount and won't move around or loosen.

Also my pictures don't show it, but the harness is still zip-tied with the factory ties. I cut a slit in the heat shroud to slide around them.

Yep those are the zip ties I was talking about. The square hole is right there. Go look by the harness. You can't miss it. Orient the tree stye zip tie in the direction that pulls the harness the furthest away from the headers. We do every install this way.

How did this header install turnout any issues with heat? Did you coat these headers?

I wrapped my wire harness the same way, and also added some heat tape around the little brake line on the passenger side. I have 2” jet hot coated headers, and haven’t had any heat related issues yet.

Isn't that the same wire harness everyone talks about moving to the opposite side of the coolant tank? Doesn't look like it's on the opposite side to me in the pic, am I wrong?
I have been told by 2 good shops that coating headers on a street car is overkill, it's only needed if you're racing on a track and we're not talking about 1/4 mile drag. This is of course if the wire harness it moved. I realize this forum is bias for coated headers so I know I'm about to get hammered on LOL
