Voltage on dash question

When u go to performance dash, u have a choice of oil pressure, temperature
And voltage, my question is; voltage seems to go
From 12.4 v to 14.2 volts, usually it hovers at 12.4 v
When cruising, but when deceleration from 70-80
Mph,(2000-2500 rpm’s) voltage goes up to approximately 14.2, then
Settles down to 12.4v, is this normal?

Yes like above its normal.

12.4 VDC is 80% charge thats what the car is shooting for.

Flip your headlights on while driving it should goto 13.9 VDC.

normal...seems weird but it is an "on demand" type charging system. It reduces parasitic drag for the alternator to charge only when necessary.

The variable voltage also keeps from overheating/overcharging the AGM battery, which is sensitive to such things.
