I installed a Thinkware u1000 2 channel dash cam in my car and it's been great since day 1. Also installed their battery (in glove box) and radar (allows for super low power mode so it can sit for long periods without issue). Super sweet setup. Did a quick overview video on the setup and what not 3+ years ago (sorry, not the best quality back then lol).

I have a Thinkware 800Pro that has worked great for me.

I have Blackvue in two of our cars (DR750S-2CH and DR900S-2CH), including the Camaro, but I must say their phone app has taken a nosedive in the past few years, it's a giant POS now and hardly works even for basic functionality.

Half the time the phone can't even connect to the cam, live view just barely works (when it does), the UI is clunky, and it is more and more shamelessly trying to push me to their expensive cloud subscription. Seriously, if I had to show the footage to a police officer after an event, I'd have to fiddle with the new app forever, or pop the micro SD card (which is just slighty less difficult than reinserting it, an absolute PITA) and use a notebook to transfer and view raw files... well I don't carry the notebook with me all the time, so that won't work...

Even though the hardware is high quality and reliable, unfortunately in OP's shoes I would stay away from Blackvue for this reason alone.

I thought I was only one having issues . App is horrible, but video quality is pretty good lol. I might switch but not sure which one to go to next. Most likely will go to venture N4

I have a Thinkware Q800PRO 2K. No complaints about the video quality, but audio isn't the greatest and the app is garbage. In the handful of times I've tried to connect the cam to the app in the almost 4 years I've had it, I've never been successful.

Something with a capacitor instead of a battery if you park the car in the sun. I started out with a dashcam with an internal lithium battery pouch and the heat caused it to swell up which can be dangerous.

For the memory card, spend extra to get Samsung or SanDisk endurance rated so it won't fail after a few years of use and larger sizes have longer expected lifetimes.

I had the equivalent of their A119 Pro previously, I'd say they're the best 'budget' cam
