Smile Dreaded lifter ticking 2016 2SS

Well got home from work and heard a tick on passenger side and check engine.
Code is for knock sensor but I am thinking might be lifter collapse. (turned off 4 cyl mode with hptuners about 4 months ago.) 90,000 on motor. Going to replace knock sensor and see if it helps.
If it does not, I am going to DOD delete, and was wondering if anyone has ran a BTR 220 cam with no other mods, stock everything. I know i will be choking it for a bit until I do headers etc, but at this moment i have no choice.
They dropped some hours at work and just need to keep it running.
Any advice would be appreciated.
If cam is good can I just replace all lifters and DOD delete and press on? Would I need different pushrods?( have built old school small blocks with my brother but none of the ls or lt engines.)

You will need a dod delete kit, valve spring kit, p rods, lifters, vvt limiter to run the BTR 220. It will run with stock intake and exhaust, will just make less power. *

I read Sam Miller @ AMP say that you can delete dod, change lifters, and run the stock cam, but I have also heard from others that you need to change the cam to a Non DOD variant. BTR offers a DOD delete stock profile cam, so you could always email them to confirm.

If that’s true I’ll send my heads to katech right now.

Then Ill do the cam later. can the cam be done without pulling the heads off using dowels like the LS?

I've seen a video of that being done, pretty sure it was lethal Camaro who did it. I'll try to find it...

You might email or message AMP about to confirm, but I know I read Sam post on FB they have done a bunch of them that way.

Yes, shops have put camshafts in the LT5 without pulling the heads since they are non-AFM hardware. The only reason to ever pull the heads was to remove AFM lifters or if you are doing an aggressive build that requires short travel lifters.
