1SS radio settings

Hi all! Just picked up my 1SS 1LE and I was wondering what the best settings for this radio is? It is no where near the sound of the Bose I had in my LT1. Im wondering if there is an EQ settings that make it sound better?

Thanks!

No, there isn't.

Adding a subwoofer is the only way to go. I did an amplified sub behind the passenger seat and love it. Others have done more/bigger...but in any situation, something must be added.

The speaker size and placement is good. Plenty of room in the door for a midbass driver. The dash corners are a great spot for imaging and a smaller wide-band driver can really shine. Of course, adding a sub helps with bottom end response, but it's easy to overdo it if the rest is stock.

My course of action will be adding 7 amplified, DSP controlled channels for an active front 3-way, replacing all of the drivers, and building a custom sub enclosure to maximize space. It will be stealth.

The easiest solution would be a compact 5 channel amp, front components, and a sub. You'd snag the signal from the front speakers for the components and rear for the sub. Then you can use your fader as a sub level controller. Just realize the gain on the sub input needs to be higher. For under a grand or so most people could be happy. You can start smaller too, do the 5ch amp and sub but just power the factory front speakers. DSP would be more useful with this route because there is untapped potential in the factory speakers if you could add a bit of EQ, some time alignment, and nicer amplification.

The even simpler route, as mentioned above, is just adding a powered sub off in the trunk, turning bass down on the HU, and using a bass boost on the sub amp to compensate. That doesn't give you a true HPF for the front speakers but it alleviates some of the work they have to do and gives you more clarity at higher volumes.

In mine, I'll build a system worthy of IASCA SQ competition in the spring.
