Interior LED Lighting Not Illuminating

So last night I was on my way back home. I remote started my car before I left to head home. When I got in my car I realized my interior LED lighting was not illuminated. On the way home my wife was searching the web to see if she could find any articles on this.. (fuse, etc). She read an article posted on someone with a 2018 that had the same issue. Supposedly it is a software bug. Every once and a while when the car is started by remote start the inside LEDs will not illuminate. Restart the car a couple times and it comes back. That's what I did, and yep, they came back. Any of you have this happen? Is there an actual fix for it? Was just curious. If there is a fix for it, I'll let the tech know it happened on Tues. My car is going in for some needed maintenance.

FWIW. Page 12 of this attachment shows the location of the ambient lighting modules. I don't know how to test it to see if its the source of your problem but it would seem to be.

I just did the footwell lighting that this instruction outlines. Its not too hard to get at.

Thx..! I'll keep an eye on it. It wouldn't be a fuse otherwise they wouldn't have come back on. So ya, you're probably right that if it's not a software bug, maybe one of the modules is starting to fail. It is kind of strange the others have had the same thing happen when starting the car with the remote start, then when you start the car without the remote start they come back on. That does seem like some kind of software bug.

Time to sell it and upgrade...

There's also a seemingly related old issue, the temporary disappearance of some options from the settings screen when using remote start. It's likely just a software glitch around module initialization that will not be fixed, unless GM releases the source code to the old MyLink platform (not holding my breath, heh).

If it's just a software bug and the remedy is to simply start the car without the remote start a couple times... I'm fine with that. It's the first time in the two years of owning the car that it's happened. I've started it with the remote start many times.

I was just curious if anyone had the issue and the dealer had an update that resolved it, as my car will be in the shop Tuesday anyway.

FWIW-2: I had a 2016 A8 from May 16 to Aug 18 that I drove every day. It never did this whether starting from the My Chevrolet App or the Fob.

I wonder if a later software update caused this to surface

That very well could be. Here is the article that my wife had found.

So now that I'm reading that for myself, it does seem like it is more referring to the lighting options in the HU, but it also does talk about the interior lighting. Either way shutting off the car and starting it twice seem to reset it and start it working again. I'm guessing it is not worth asking the service department about when I have it there Tues. I'll just see if it happens again. First time it happened in two years I've owned the car.

If it happens again, I'll just have to tell my wife that it's time to update to this ZL1 I've been keeping an eye on to see if they drop the price. HotLap already told me "Just Do It"

Not cheap, but comes with very low miles, plus it already has a Roto-Fab intake, so you'd be saving $500 right there If you buy it, you'll want to make sure the oil pump landmine is taken care of.

Quite an awesome car, this ZL1
