2022 Production Timeframe

I know with the pandemic and auto supply shortages (chips, shutting down plants, etc.) how things got backed up for 2021 Camaro orders. From what I can gather, 2022's are now being built. If anyone knows, is the factory running full time and what expected wait times are if you ordered a Camaro today. I had ordered a 2021 2SS 1LE in February. Although I purchased 2 other cars since that order, it has still not arrived. I am really leaning toward ordering a ZL1 and want to sell/trade my C7 while values are up right now. Just do not want to be 8-9 months without my sports car. Thanks in advance.

probably best to contact your dealer. you'll need an allocation for a zl1 then submit the build and have it accepted. You're looking 4 months build time after you get TPW

I just ordered a 2022 three days ago and my dealer said that early spring 2022 is a realistic time frame for delivery. Of course, YMMV.

I ordered a 2021 in February, order was accepted by GM in February and it has been built (3800 status) and sitting for the past 3 weeks or so. So my process is over 6 months at this point. I would say spring 2022 if your lucky.

Let’s hope I’m lucky then. Geesh. Did or does anyone have a plan B if their deal drags on forever? I don’t know what else I’d look to buy. Used prices are stupid now and I although I’ve had OK luck mostly with used sports and toy cars I really want something new this time.

Like a mustang maybe? Ugh, they’re OK and I respect the marque but not really my thing. Challengers are too luxo-boat for me. Ugh. WRX? Four doors…. Meh. I like coupes. Maybe have to go lease a new Beemer.

I’m in the same boat! It seems like it takes 6-8 weeks to get them after they are built!

I was told late winter/early spring when I ordered last week. I think 6 months is probably realistic to get it in hand and assume production continues uninterrupted.

Morning,

Does anyone know how many Camaro's are produced, roughly, in a day?
How long does it take to produce one Camaro?

It was recently posted that 302 have been built so far (in one week). That's great, but not very many per day or is it? Seems like a slow start or not?

The unfortunate fact is that all options for new vehicles are limited and slow to get ahold of - even more so in the shrinking "RWD performance coupe" segment. If you absolutely have to get a new one because a lease is up or something, you may have to settle for what you can find on a lot. Another option would be contacting the lender that holds your lease and see if you can extend it long enough to get what you want - which may be much easier if you currently have a GM lease since you're looking for a GM car to replace it.

Personally, I think it's worth the wait just to NOT get a Mustang or Challenger - the Camaro is definitely the best combination of looks, value for money, and configurability IMO - but I'm getting mine as a second car, so I don't have a time crunch. Obviously YMMV.

The 302 number was based on one VIN in the other thread - that may or may not be the highest numbered VIN produced that week, just the highest numbered one we know about.

Im not coming off a lease - was just saying that worst case I could lease something "fun" if I couldnt find Camaro and the situation got really ugly. The clunky old Buick is the daily/winter driver(wifey has newer RAV4) and the Buick is free and clear, lol! So, Im in no real rush other than I want a new Camaro really bad! .

No doubt that the options for RWD cars with a sporty nature & ONLY two doors are dwindling. I agree with you though - I want a Camaro and dont really want a Mustang or Challenger so Im going to dig in and wait as long as I can. Its the best value by far and the best overall of three when total performance is taken into consideration.

I just gotta hang tight. It'll happen!!!

If for whatever reason my Camaro order doesn't come in, my next option would possibly be the new STI depending on the specs once it is releases on the 10th of September. I do like the new Golf R and Mustang Mach 1.
