What to avoid doing if you want your instrument cluster and HUD to display correctly

I feel like I'm becoming a veteran of instrument and HUD display problems. I started a thread a few months ago about instrument cluster and HUD going blank, and last weekend at the track I triggered another similar but different event. So I thought I'd bring my collective learnings here so that it might help others. Here are the things to avoid doing to ensure you don't have instrument gauge cluster malfunctions and HUD disappearances:

1) DO NOT allow the car to move until the gauge cluster boot up process is complete What this means is, when you start up the car and the RMP and speed gauges go from 0 to max and back to 0 (and all the lights turn on in the cluster), allow that process to complete fully (gauges settle to "normal") before you set the car in motion.

2) Whenever you power up the car, do not trigger any electric powered function (windows down, seat movement, etc) until the gauge cluster finishes booting up. I wanted to lower my windows so I powered the car up in accessory mode and immediately started lowering the windows while the instrument cluster was still booting up. The RPM needle promptly froze at 3000 RPM and stayed there until I cycled the power off and back on.

These are relatively simple to avoid; Unless of course you are:
1) In a rush and not thinking
2) At the track with hot brakes, you just came into the paddock and stopped and shut off your car on a slope to let your instructor out (M6 in gear to prevent car from rolling), and now need to restart the car without holding the brakes.

Hope this helps!

What would your take be on a speedo gauge needle light just going out? the gauge still works, but the light to illuminate the needle is inop... I am not sure what to do. I heard of doing the battery terminal disconnects and letting the system lose the power in the system to reset the system.
lost...
