8in. screen upgrade
i want to upgrade the 7in. screen in a 1lt camaro and i want to know if the 8in. screen is compatible with the 1lt radio/Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System or the resolution will be off(not interested in the navigation upgrade, bose speakers or after market camera systems)

there's no 7-8" upgrade kit, even from gen5diy.
Though, it stands to reason that if they programmed you a HMI (roughly 900 bucks), and you picked up a 8in screen from the junkyard (you can't purchase new since the places force you to go thru a dealer to get it) from the same year car you have it should be doable. You wont have the wiring harness for the led lighting of the new 8in display, and you may need the hmi -> display wiring harness if they're different. It's easily a 1200+ dollar ordeal assuming the car is a year that gen5diy even does hmi programming for and assuming the new displays aren't vin locked (the older 2016 and 2017's aren't). It's much cheaper to just buy the car with the 8in screen already. |
