Tires for 1LE

Hey guys,

I heard the stock tires of 1le have life of 10k miles. What are the replacement options looking like beside the Good years? Thanks.

Tire Rack UTQG FAQ There's also Tire Rack's very helpful search tool, which lays out most matching OEM size replacements. If you're looking for more tread life, you'll have to give up track performance and dry grip as a rule. The Michelin Pilot 4S and Continental Extremecontact Sport are good tires that are a step up in treadlife but a step down in summer dry grip from stock.

Given the Supercar 3's have a 220 treadwear rating, that roughly translates to 15k miles of easy street life. Obviously track days and burnouts will dramatically shorten that lifespan.

There are a ton of threads and info already out there. You didn't mention what you're trying to accomplish with a tire change. Spend some time searching and learning, look at the wheel & tire subforum, where we're literally talking about this topic right now.

I would love to track, but i can't afford the local track membership which is like 4k, my car is my DD. I bought the car without logically thinking through things. Goal is just mostly street use with decent grip. Thanks, i will follow that tread. I tried to search just didnt see it. Got to learn to use the search bar better.

You don't have to get a track membership. You just need to browse motorsportsreg to find track day events at your local track. Should range between $300-$400 or so, per event/day. Look into it, the 1LE deserves at least one track day during ownership.

No need to do a track day even, check in with the SCCA club in your area, I think its Old Dominion Region http://www.odr-scca.org/. They run events at Pungo Airfield which seems pretty close to Newport News. Its cheap, people are really friendly and it's lots of fun.

This above.
I do mostly local events. Some are very small, ran on runaways and even parking lots. Check for bad areas or obstacles and place some cones... Good to go. We do ask permission and even have our local law enforcement come ( I kinda have the hookup there) Talk with local car clubs and groups.
One warning though. It's addictive!
Pic is my daughter helping check a parking lot for a little fun a few weekends ago. Closed parking lot on a Sunday. 7 years old, and walks the grid!!

Michelin will have a replacement coming out for the Pilot Super Sport and Continental has the new Extreme Contact coming out that is reaching to be as good as Michelin's new tire.

Both are ultra high performance summer only tires.

Was just checking out Tirerack. Looks like they put the 1le option for the camaro

I see a set of Continental Extremecontact. They look decent for everyday summer tires. 330 treadwear and significantly cheaper.

I see michelin has a few models of super sports and then the 4s tires. What are the differences? arent the supersports discontinued?

I got 2 Nitto 555 G2s after a rear blow out.

At first I thought they sucked, zero traction, spun all the way through first...
Now 2k miles later they act very similar to the stock goodyears, they spin maybe 5-10% more now.

Anyway, for 250$ each they are a great tire for the price.

While I like Nitto's on my truck, the 555g2 is not in the same league as the GY Supercar F1 3 tires the 1LE comes with.

I agree...they're not, but if you don't intend to do much track time...they're one of the better alternative for longevity than the GY's

Has anyone tried the BFG 305/285 35 20's on a 1LE, I am looking at designated track wheels/tires so I want to get a longer lasting DD tire for the 1LE wheels? I saw someone using a 305 35 20 DOT drag radial on the rear so don't thing the 35 profile is a problem in back but concerned about the fronts.
