Hey guys, I am looking to get some bola atak mufflers *not the axle back or cat back* How different would it sound from the axle back? The mufflers used for the axle back look identical to the individual mufflers needed. it looks like a muffler shop can use the two borla atak mufflers and weld in the pipes with tips and create the axle back without having to pay $1500. Would it sound different from the real axle back?

Doesn't look like Borla sells just the mufflers by themselves, unless you happen to have a link to them?

They do, but they are universal mufflers not tailored to our cars, and they are bigger than the ones made for our car. You could do this but it wouldn't be very much louder than stock, especially if you have NPP.

I had the bola atak on my 2012, they sound great. Very aggressive sound. I'm sure they will sound the same. Are you able to buy a set of just mufflers?

Yea, you can go to most muffler shops and they have them in stock and they’ll install them. I currently have long tube headers with x pipe and no mufflers and it’s Extremely loud. I’ve heard the borla atak axle back in person with longtubes and sounds great. That’s why I was thinking about adding some atak mufflers instead of wasting $1500

Do it right. The axlebacks are less than $1000.

I agree. I was thinking of cutting corners when I installed my axleback but it wasn't worth it in the end to save a few dollars if I didn't really like the sound. I'm picky that way

remember when you're buying the axle back if you follow the *advertising* Borla puts out there that specific muffler is tuned to the "car" vs. a universal part number.

I looked on the Borla site and there are 2 ATAK mufflers: both for the 5.0L Coyote engine.

I think the point of ATAK is that Borla has tuned the muffler for that specific engine. Basically what VinnAY said.

They're callled atak crate mufflers. Which really means universal.

That's what I did with my Magnaflow muffs. Just cut them in.
May not be the exact same sound but the axle back kit was $850.
Atak is one of the loudest especially on cold start.
