ZL1 Convertible Magntic Ride Tuning....

Curious if the Magnetic ride control on the convertible is tuned differently than the Coupe? Or possible the shocks different?

No. It's the exact same suspension for the coupe and convertible.

What makes you think otherwise?

Chevrolet engineers are reluctant to use the word softer, instead describing the adjustments to the magnetorheological dampers and electronically assisted steering as “expanding the bandwidth” when in Tour mode. Smaller-diameter anti-roll bars are used in both the front and rear to dial back some of the athleticism. Even with the, ahem, expanded programming, the ride is compliant and the lighter steering remains sharp.

Maybe their just talking about how tour mode is the softest setting for the suspension. Which the coupe has as well. The convertible was never meant to as track capable as the coupe since they couldn't fit in the eLSD. If they did, I'm sure GM would have found a way to get it in there.

Either way. I wouldn't be worrying any sleep wondering if the coupe has better MRS tuning over the convertible.

I am just looking to see if there may be some easy enhancements, after doing some research I see smaller rear sway bar on the convertible really doesnt have any upgrade options, yet I was surprised the convertible still held 1g on the skid pad vs the coupe 1.02.

I had a stingray convertible that I did a track pack sway bar upgrade on as well as Z06 calipers and it made a huge difference.(Stingrays actually didnt come with a rear swaybar).

So I was looking to see what could be done here, GM also offered a mag ride enhancement for the C7 that made a significant difference in handling and Jim Mero offers tuning on some corvettes.

I am happy with the car, i am just not one to leave well enough alone lol

Buy a DSC Sport suspension controller. Right out of the box it makes touring mode softer and Track mode much firmer. It is an excellent upgrade for any magnaride car.

I road course track my car and I believe it is worth the money for what I use it for. I bought mine brand new in box off a member on here for $800, so it was really worth it to me.

It really depends on how you use the car if it is worth it to you. It is fully programmable from a laptop, but the settings right out of the box were good enough for me. Like I said before, In touring mode, it is Cadillac soft and in Track mode it is close to 1LE DSSV stiff.

That alone makes it worth the price IMO, plus it's near infinitely programmable. I'm not one to waste money either, but this isn't a bad deal at all.

You can write your own suspension programming based on any sensor the car has, and make programs that are venue specific. For its capabilities the price is very reasonable. the real issue is having the time, knowledge and resources to optimize your suspension. Most people can't handle having rebound and compression knobs let alone being able to adjust each shock individually based on 10+ inputs.

I don't think the baseline programming that comes with the DSC are worth it unless there's something specific you want to accomplish, otherwise making venue specific adjustments is the real benefit. You can make up significant amounts of time by tailoring the damping to the track or autox surface.
