ODB II

Hi,

Was wondering if someone could recommend a inexpensive ODBII that I can use to retract the emergency brake when I do a brake job?

No need, when you do the rears take off the ebrake motor on the caliper with the two bolts then insert a torx bit or allen wrench and insert into the caliper where the motor came out and turn it in until it stops turning, I can't remember which way but you'll be able to tell if you're going the wrong way. Once you get the new pads in and the caliper in place tighten the ebrake by hand and then turn out 1/2 turn. When reassembling make sure the gear meshes properly, it won't bolt up unless they mesh and don't force it just take the motor back off and turn it by hand until they mesh. Never had an issue doing it this way, before you drive it hit the E brake a couple times and it will home itself.

I was looking at mine just now. I have 2 piston brembo in the rear with no motors on them. The parking brake has a cable coming in from the rear subframe that I'm guessing has a motor on it.

The SS has different rear brakes than the OPs LT...

At work i usually just apply 12+ and ground to the 2 pin terminals to run the park brake motor backwards. All the ones I've ever seen on all different makes are just 2 wires. They change direction by just swapping positve and negative from the modules that control the brake. So i just mimic that.

No need to retract. Just don’t set the parking brake when you start. Easy job to do just make sure you have something like this as the caliper will need to be “twisted” back in.

Then you don't need to do anything special. The Ebrake is for the JL9 RPO code. You must have upgrades brakes being a LT. With the Brembos make sure the brake is off and use a spreader once you pull the pads.
