Is Riptide Blue Metallic a tri- and/or tintcoat?
Question, I read on the forums here that Riptide Blue Metallic will NOT be an extra cost option, while other metallic or tint coat colors either were or currently are. For example, Hyper Blue Metallic was a $395 extra cost option, while Vivid Orange Metallic and Radiant Red Tintcoat are between $395 and $495.
Just wondering if there is something different about Riptide Blue compared to Hyper Blue or Vivid Orange that make those extra cost options, vs. none for Riptide Blue? For example, different paint or process; different supplier? Something else? (I am not asking for GM to charge us more money!! But curious if there is something different about Riptide Blue Metallic that makes it closer to the "standard" vs "optional" colors). thanks! Last edited by g-boac; 06-19-2023 at 01:59 PM. |

I would guess the paints that have pearls in them cost more. The vivid orange definitely has pearl. Flops like crazy in the sunlight.

Isn't ordering open now where you can build one on line? That should tell you. Or knowing Chevy, that's not working yet.

Both (GCP) Nitro Yellow Metallic and (GJV) Riptide Blue Metallic are listed in the 2024 Order Guide only as being metallics. Since both colors originated on Cadillacs, they may carry an extra charge like some of the 2023 Camaro metallics. But since the 2024 ordering system is not yet functioning (no matter what you’ve seen elsewhere), nobody knows.

I ordered my SS 1LE in Riptide Blue Metalic. My saleman said they can't see pricing yet. But on my build sheet it says it will cost extra.

Order shows new yellow is extra cost, blue is not. Pricing is out now, confirms no charge for new blue, new yellow is $395.
