SIMPLE FRONT CAMERA?

If you bought a second OEM camera and spliced into the rear back up camera with a switch to toggle between the two cameras, this should work? There is a delay before the back up camera display cuts off when going into first or drive and by switching from rear to front camera, you should have enough time to see front view by shifting to reverse, then drive when pulling forward: A little help from all you electronic wizards out there, please.

I had to relocate the camera from my truck tailgate to a canopy on my GMC Sierra. It was not easy. I too thought it would be a simple splice. Not so much. GM, of course uses a proprietary connector and the type of cabling is well shielded. If I remember correctly, there were 4 wires. 2 for power and 2 for video signal. It was a pita, and I wasn't inserting a switch. What I think you would need is some type of electronic switch box that would handle the switching from front to rear.

This is kit is available to add a front camera and touch icon to activate it on the factory screen but it isn't cheap.

This is the right way to do it without splicing wires and potentially damaging anything
