Axleback vs Catback

How much louder is the MBRP axleback over the race catback? Wondering if the extra $200 is worth it for the catback when on video they sound about the same.

I'm not familiar with the mid sections of our exhausts, but unless there is a big resonator in one of the sections it won't be that much louder. The MBRP race edition axle back is a muffler delete with resonators hanging off the side just to get rid of the rasp.

I just saw that it deletes the crimped section before the mufflers, wondering if that makes a large enough difference.

Makes no difference in flow.

It is significantly louder. If you are not 100% sure you can handle sounding like a race car 24\7 I would stay away from this exhaust unless you get the street version with mufflers.

In this car I found there's no reason to go catback, you won't get a thing besides lightening your wallet. All I 'needed' was sound so an axle back did just that.

A lot of bucks to be sexy under a car that no one "sees" and otherwise does nothing for performance.

I think it changes the tone, you go from 2 3/4 to 3 in. The catback sounds different than the axle back. It is loud tho and if you go headers it would be to much IMO.

All in all I'm happy with my MBRP catback.

Especially since I didn't delete the second cats either!

The guys at jiffy lube can admire it while they change your oil...

Just going to throw in my .02

The biggest difference you can make on the car exhaust wise, is replacing that big muffler. The MRBP race stuff is all just a muffler delete. You can go to a shop and ask for a muffler delete and save yourself some money.

The mid pipes can be replaced and gain you some volume. There are 2 secondary cats, and a resonator. I replaced my resonator with an actual X pipe and I think it sounds better.

Sucks that the MBRP cat back doesn't delete the secondary cats. That's what holding me back from buying one

Just have the shop take them out, it takes a few minutes and any reputable shop probably won't even add anything to the cost of installing the exhaust. In my opinion, even with the V8 the MBPR sounds a little too raspy and like its "screaming" so deleting the second cats wouldnt help make that any better I would think.

I would go for Borla or at least Flowmaster. Sounds more aggressive, just not as loud.
