Droning?

I recently installed Flowmaster Super 10s on my 2018 SS in an effort to improve the exhaust sound. I am finding the droning noise in the cabin to be way too loud and annoying. I'm new to this loud exhaust, so it could be that I'm not used to it, but it gives me a headache every time I accelerate. there any solution to dampen my exhaust noise level besides the obvious "get quieter mufflers"? If this ends up being my only option, can someone suggest mufflers that are aggressive but not deafening?

Google: J pipes. These can be added to tame drone. Many people will tell you this brand or that brand will not drone. Its a crap shoot because drone is subjective as people have differing levels of tolerance for it.

Drone issues are exactly why I have chosen to leave the exhaust stock on this car. Luckily the dual mode NPP exhaust is perfect for me. Plenty of sound when I have my foot in it and no drone at any rpm range.

Too Drone is a factor of running in the wrong RPM range, too low, though less easy to deal with on an Auto.

Don't feel to bad. I once bought a set of Borla cat backs for my 2004 Vette and they droned like crap on the hwy but sounded great in the city. Had to take them off and bought MagaFlow which were quieter but better then OEM and no drone. Like other s have said the NPP exhaust is perfect because you can adjust them. Guys with 5.o Mustangs have it made when it comes to sound. Put a set of FlowMasters on them and the sound is great.

You need Helmholtz chambers, ("J" pipes). You'll have to determine the length needed based on the rpm at a steady driving rate, and then have chambers built and installed at the specified length....

Go for a drive, and get the car to specified RPM's, and carefully determine the RPM that bothers you the most.... Doing this while accelerating may help you clue in to a specific range, but the final determination needs to be done at a steady state driving rate... Find the most annoying RPM level...

Then call around and find a shop, Muffler or performance that understands a Helmholtz chamber and is willing to build and install them for you.... If you have to explain them to the shop, hang up and move on...

Sample photos included, though not necessarily the best welding....
