is bumper removal needed to replace taillights?

got a 2014 ss, do i need to remove the bumper to change out my taillights? Is it only the 6th gen that does NOT need to remove the bumper?

Apparently, you do have to remove the bumper on the 2014 & 2015s to replace the tail light assemblies, at least based on every YouTube video I could find on doing so. I know you don't have to on the 2010-2013s, but that's little help to you.

Yes you do. There is a plastic piece that attaches to the bottom of the lights that the bumper snaps onto (don't forget to transfer those to the new lights). You might be able to bend the bumper back far enough to get them out without removing it but a.) you will probably break something and b.) removing the bumper is pretty easy so you'll probably end up spending more time on it and it's guaranteed to be a bigger PITA if you don't remove it. My one word of advice is to be careful popping the clips around the marker lights, they break easy. Just pry that section back far enough to get a screwdriver in to pop the 2 clips on each side.
