Just bought a 1LE, have some questions.
Just got my 1le over the weekend and I'm curious if one of these things is normal. After the car warms up and get to temperature, I get a lot of heat in the foot well, like I have the heat on and blowing out through the foot well, only it's off. Is that normal??
Also, is it possible to stop getting locked out of 2nd and 3rd gear when upshifting from 1st? Everytime I shift I get an indicator on the dash telling me 1st to 4th and it locks me out. I put it in track mode and it never does that, but in tour and sport it always does. |

I've noticed that when the system is off on mine, it's never really 100% off. I can't get the unit to stop all air movement, and it does blow warm unless I put it back to AUTO AC and set a temp.
You can get a device (skip shift eliminator) that attaches to the transmission under the car that basically blocks the signal from the computer to the lock. You can't ever get rid of the screen though because the car thinks this is always working. The way around it is just to drive a little faster, hold first longer, you can train your brain to drive in a way that it never really engages. |

I always keep my HVAC on the dash vents, then close the vents when not in use so I dont have warm air coming out of them.
You are encountering the factory skip shift. Only way to stop it is to either put in a skip shift eliminator (you will still get the dash warning) or have it tuned out (no dash warning). Otherwise hold 1st gear out a little longer and it will not activate. You can also pull the shifter into 2nd, when the blocker tries to push you over just back off a bit and then pull into 2nd again. Other option is to got over into 3rd as well. |

First off, Congrats!
The footwell heat thing doesn't sound normal to me, mine works as expected. My only beef with the HVAC is the auto temp sensor works as if it's inside the vents and not in the cabin. The shifting thing is CAGS, quick search will show literally decades of complaining. You have to be under about 12 MPH or over 19 MPH and/or 30% throttle angle to get past it's engagement settings. That's easier to do in Track mode since the torque request mapping is more gradual. In Sport mode, <30% pedal is a lot more torque request. You can also engine brake within it's engagement zone and it'll cancel CAGS.

Get a skip shift eliminator. Glad you picked the 1LE over the Challenger, you should be happy. Like your videos! Does your car have the PDR? That would give you some good content for future videos at the track. Enjoy the ride, I hope to get one in the near future. |

I did notice the footwell does get warm on mine...at least I remember it being that way when i first got it...perhaps i've changed some setting or something.
The skip shift - are you sure you are driving aggressively enough to bypass the 1 to 4 requirement? When driving Ms. Daisy, it will try and force you to go to 4...by design.

Never felt heat on the floor in my '18 1LE. Skip shift eliminator already mentioned.

The hot air comes in when recirculate is turned off. The engine puts out a lot of heat.
However if you turn the car off with recirculate turned on then moisture can build up in your a/c evaporator causing a musty smell. So you have to get the afterblow function enabled per the attached TSB which will turn on the fan 30 min after your car has turned off to remove the moisture. |

Congrats and I personally have not experienced the heat issue referenced by the OP. The skip shift can be annoying however. You can defeat it a few ways.
1. Staying in 1st gear a lil longer works 2. Using the steering wheel function to dismiss it (I admit I never catch it in time LOL) 3. Some sort of skip shift defeat that plugs in 4. Remove via a tune Good luck with the new ride and congrats |

No, it doesnt really "lock" you out. When the skip shift activates a solenoid on the side of the transmission slides a pin across the gate entrance to 2nd gear which then sort of directs you to the 4th gear gate. As I said, you can either pull down to second, release pressure for a sec and then go into 2nd or you can go 1st to 3rd with no issues. The concept for the 1-4 skip shift is the same as the reverse lockout solenoid. |
