Determined to kick off this summer in style, I abandoned my search for a 7-seater SUV and bought a 2017 Hyper Blue Camaro SS convertible for my family to enjoy instead.



I'm pretty particular, so I spent far too many nights and weekends reading everything I could about every 4-seater convertible out there – The shortlist was a 2016-2018 Camaro SS (my preferred frontend), a Mercedes C-class, or a Mercedes E-class. I have a GT500, so the Mustang didn't make the list. As gorgeous as the Mercedes are, they weren't as exciting as the Camaro. I guess I could have gone for an AMG, but they were outside the price I wanted for an impulsive "fun" car. I grew up in a Ford family, but my wife comes from a Chevy family, so I decided to take a long, hard look at the bowties for her.

I found a low-mileage, no-accident 2016-2018 2SS in great condition with 20" (56W) wheels, the NPP exhaust, and MRC about 500 miles away from me in upstate New York. After some haggling, we struck a deal, but I still paid too much since it is now convertible season. Thankfully, this meant that I got to fulfill a lifelong dream—fly to a different state and drive my new toy, top-down, all the way home. It was a blast!

Quick update: I put 2,000 miles on the Camaro since May! I just can't stop driving this thing, and I'm now a firm believer that every day can get just a little bit better if you drive around in a convertible.

This past weekend, I finally had the opportunity to post my car review online... Really, it was just an excuse for me to "get geeky" and create something to try out the AI narrators I've been hearing about. I know it's not your typical car video, but it was just for fun.
