You'll be fine. Those stock tires are not "that" far into the performance tire category. There are some people that scream bloody murder and think that if you drive below 40 degrees you'll instantly die, but I ran stock SS tires on my C5 and a few aftermarkets with no problems. If you start getting into the ultra-high performance summer tires, they basically turn to hard plastic in the cold and may even crack, but there's a pretty large spectrum here. They will suck on snow or ice, you can handle it if you go very slow and are very cautious and feather the clutch, but there's a lot working against you in that situation without winter tires. I drove mine in AZ in the teens and in Colorado slightly into the negatives, then moved to Alaska and it probably also saw the teens and a little bit of snow. If I want to drive it during the winter safely, I have to get winter tires here, no question, but Georgia? Naw, you'll be fine.

I grew up in GA. Unless you’re in the North Georgia mountains, you should be fine. The thing about driving in GA, I lived in Southwest Atlanta, the biggest thing to be concerned about it “black” ice. Rain in the evening and temps drop below freezing overnight. The only thing that would save you in that scenario are studded tires anyway.
Be smart and on the rare occasions that it snows in GA, most of the state shuts down anyway so you wouldn’t be in the roads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
