Ss' s blowing smoke wot

Havn't gone wot with mine yet (break in time) but I saw another ss on the highway floor it and a puff of black smoke came out. Made me wonder if it eventually clogs the cats. Anybody know if it can?

First time I gunned it, black smoke shot out. So I would say its just buildup.

Catch can has nothing to do with black smoke. That is just carbon build up...all vehicles do it and need to go wot from time to time to clean them out. Blueish smoke would be oil getting into the combustion side of the engine. That is where a catch can will help.

It possibly could. It's an aftermarket part. I had warranty work done on my car with the catch can installed and they never said anything. If you are having a lot of issues might be best to avoid the can for now or talk to your dealer first before you install it.

Nothing to worry over Magnum! It's normal. Now if it's blue smoke or thick white smoke then that's another story.

You better research DI engines before making comments. I work on these motors so I know how to help eliminate this.

I have done plenty of research and work on all my own stuff. Black smoke is fuel...blueish smoke is oil. Catch can helps keep oil from blowing back through the intake manifold. I have one on my LS6 and it helps quite a bit...still has nothing to do with black smoke.

I think a puff of smoke is normal on any car when you suddenly go wot. It's just fuel.

Black is carbon, blue is oil. My tips are black and need cleaned every time I wash my car.

Yes, they absolutely do. GM has already denied warranty claims due to aftermarket catch cans. The LT1 in the camaro already has one, it may not work as well as some of the aftermarket ones, but it is there.

Just media blast the buildup out of your valve train when your warranty is up, like all the bmw and mercedes guys do, its what im planning to do, then install an aftermarket can.

Where is the stock catch can located? Does it need emptied during an oil change?
