Kooks 3" Catted Exhaust

So I ordered a axle-back system from Amazon for my 16' SS. I decided on the kooks axle back with black quad tips. So the boxes arrive and I dig in to make sure everything looks good.

Well the seller actually sent me a full 3" exhaust with cats/x-pipe/mufflers and the black quad tips. Well my car has the stock exhaust manifolds and from what I can tell this system won't work unless I buy long tube headers.

Funny thing is when I opened the boxes, there was a little sticker just inside the box that said this may have been opened and repackaged to take photos. The part numbers on the boxes match the part numbers on kooks website for the axle-back system. So my guess it was a miss box of some sort, and I was told by the vendor that it was the last one in stock so they can't even replace it. They said I can keep it or get a refund.

I guess what I'm asking is there anyway to make this stuff work or am I better off selling it and just buying what I was looking for in the first place. Long tubes aren't in the budget at the moment, so that's not an option.

Just for reference.

This is what I thought I bought.

This is what was sent to me.

Thanks!

I don't see why you could not make it work with stock manifolds.

I'm guessing some sort of custom flanges would need to be made in order to connect to the stock manifolds.

Just take it to a muffler shop. They'll make the proper adjustments for it cheap and you ended up with a full catback. Can't go wrong with getting a quote to making it work dude.

I took it to a shop on Friday and the guys there made it seem like it was going to be a lot of work to get it to work with the stock system.

They said they could make it work but it would be a hack job and if I ever decided to get long tubes that it would need to be hacked again to make them work.

I'm going to get a second opinion from a shop up in Portland. Down here in southern Oregon it's a lot of small towns with lots of farmers and I'm not sure they deal with this kinda stuff often. Finding shops willing to work on late model muscle cars is few and far between...

Maybe it's time to get the longtubes. Save up and do it right one time. Will cost you less in the long run

Definitely get a second opinion because it honestly shouldn't be too hard for guys that do that kind of work for a living.
