Shipping any time soon?

Anyone know how long it usually takes for a car to ship out? My ZL1 1LE was built and put in a yard by the rail over 2 weeks ago and is still just sitting there?

Mine is sitting as well. It was built just over 3 weeks ago. It is currently bayed. I know of one other in the same position.

Don't bother trying to elevate it unless you want to be lied to.

There is no good answer about shipping time. Once the build is turned over to Dispatch GM has no say, unless a safety issue pops up, in which case GM can and does pull the build until needed repairs are completed.

Lying to your customer is never a good answer.

Is there a rail yard strike going or something? The ones that went by truck shipped out in about a week or less.

Sorry, I didn't mean to lash out at you. Just a bit frustrated 3 weeks from the build date and having been told that no ZL1 1LEs have shipped yet when we all know that at least 4 have.

The only ones that have shipped have been by truck I believe..... the rail system up here in Michigan is severely overloaded with vehicle transport.... I went by the Charlotte rail yard Monday and the lot was about half full.... there are quite a few car assembly plants up here including GM and many other manufacturers..... the rail system is way overloaded right now in this neck of the woods....

Thanks for giving our disease a name SDISAA (in the order checking thread). Welcome to the Slow Delivery Induced Stress and Anxiety support group!

When I see the words bayed, or pending...I start to twitch.

You have to see 4B00 at least once. If the build is traveling by train, you will see 4B00 when the build is moved to one of the rail distribution centers. (LGR Assembly Plant does not have the capacity to load rail autoracks) then again when the build reaches the distribution center serving the ordering dealer.

Very few GM cars are SRE (customer) orders, and if the Corvette is excluded, the number becomes miniscule. Dispatch is required to get vehicles to dealerships in a manner that allows for adequate inventory, and contrary to much expressed opinions here, it does not matter if the build is dealer stock or customer ordered. In addition, it looks to me like the amount of time a build is bayed is of less consequence than getting a full load headed to a similar area, which is one reason we see builds roll off the line and almost instantly loaded while others sit in limbo.

The secret if one feels a need to do a customer order and does not want to spend huge amounts waiting on transportation: order from a dealer located within a days drive of the Assembly Plant where you expect the order to be built.

I have been reading some other threads and it is looking like you will wait about a month to get on a train and then depending on where your car gets unloaded, that part could take 3 weeks. I was reading a thread where the Birmingham area is over run with train cars and it takes about a week to get past there. This time frame is only speculation from reading other threads.

I've seen the same thing. My dealer has been keeping me in the loop as has Becky at Rogers. This site is an invaluable resource. While the wait is longer than I would like I think the car will be worth it.

While we wait we can continue with this "support group". Lol. Here is hoping everyone's new car ships soon!
