What exactly do you lose with NPP + aftermarket?

I understand what NPP is, and I know it sounds a lot better. The convenience of turning that on and off is really nice. My question is if you did not get NPP, but got an aftermarket say Borla, would it sound as good/better? Or is that quad setup just the way to go?

Found the perfect car in every way except it does not have NPP.

If you go aftermarket EG: Borla, their ATAK dual exhaust setup will be equivalent to their track mode on NPP and quad set ups. You obviously just won't be able to quiet it down.

Is track mode the loudest? I plan to get an aftermarket Borla exhaust, and I want it to sound loud and aggressive. Is the Borla Non-NPP as loud as the Borla NPP?

You would lose the glossy quad tip diffuser so you would have to buy a diffuser for quad tips or modify your stock one, unless you go aftermarket with dual tips in which case you would just have a non glossy diffuser

I also found the perfect car in every way except no npp. However, now that I have the corsa installed I'm glad because it sounds so much better than even the npp and the tips are cooler looking too imo.

Is this what I would get without NPP? Because that sounds amazing.

I believe without the npp it sounds about in the middle between stealth mode and track mode

I was thinking about the Borla myself actually and I already have NPP. The real benefit of the Borla is that you lose the 30-40lbs suitcase muffler in back. Having the weight back there may not hurt me so much since it's probably helping me gain traction but it's a nice way to make your car lighter. It sounds good too and I think it'll work just like NPP.

Going from NPP to non-NPP

I recently bought some Borla ATAKs without NPP. My current stock exhaust DOES have NPP, but considering I always drive it in "sport" mode, I didn't see the need to spend the extra $600 on a function I don't utilize.

Getting ready to install, and my mechanic has advised that leaving the NPP cables disconnected might trigger the check engine light to always be on. Can anyone confirm this? Is there a way to override it?

It will trigger CEL. Get the NPP version if you can swap it out.
