Anybody blackout their headlights.
Has anyone done the Phasterpormacne headlight blackout kit?
http://www.phastekperformance.com/20...headlight1.htm I want the darker ones but am afraid they might be too dark. Anyone install these? The dark or the light ones.

Stop and give some consideration as to the 'legality' of tinting your headlights with regards to local law enforcement.

I have the dark ones. Night time visibility was cut a little bit, but I haven't had any real issues. Had them for about a year and haven't had a cop say anything about them, but they are technically illegal. With how bright our headlights are I don't think the police car, but on say a 1990s honda civic it would be dangerous

Blackout headlights
I went with the lightest shade from big worm on mine. The headlights on our cars are so bright it's hardly noticeable. It also gave the subtle stealth look in the front end. I didn't go with the dark being that I do drive down back roads where critters jump out in front of you as well as the old geezers who wait til you're almost to them to then pull out in front of you and go 25 so I needed the visibility to be as good as possible. Always seems to be at night for me.

Some food for thought.....
Several yrs back a guy with a Chevy pickup, black with the total black out treatment. Was hit by an old woman in an intersection, AT NIGHT. The accident was clearly her fault. Yet she later sued the Chevy guy and WON a sizeable judgment. Her Lawyer used the fact that the driver had "Re engineered and reduced the candlepower of ALL of his lights" as the evidence of negligence on his part. My neighbor was called in to testify, as he sold this guy the dark, tail light covers. How I'm privy to the case. |

Ok, I'm convinced. I don't really want them. I'm concerned with legality. I do not believe for a second that the headlight will be dimmed so much that my headlights won't work properly especially with the lighter shade one. I drive lots of back roads out here in AZ and I'm am constantly getting flashed because people think I have my brights on.

I have been running the dark tint for awhile, no issues here, and I still get flashed once in awhile. I have notice a difference in unlit roads at night. But I mostly drive in the city.

We offer two different shades of tint for the headlights, the lightest (Tint) is very subtle and the darker of the two gun smoke is visibly darker. All of our lens protection material is 12 mil thick which can help protect the expensive headlights from rocks and other road debris. Most people do not notice a loss in light output, but depends on the individual. For people that have night vision problems I wouldn't recommend it. I have been driving with the gun smoke on our test car and do not notice in loss in night vision.

I have the darkest ones from Phastek and love them for the daytime look and when the car is off at night.
That being said, it does cut visibility a bit (I stopped getting bright lighted by everyone though lol), and after a few months you will probably start to see a bubble in front of your headlights from the heat. I drive my car every single day, so it probably fast-tracked that issue. I have no idea about the laws or how often they are enforced. I live in Oklahoma, we don't even have state inspections anymore. You should see the junk that drives around, only held together by bungie chords, duct tape and some bailing wire

I had the dark at first on mine but it was too dark for me. Lots of deer where I live and I need to see. I purchased light one, I can see Great and it looks great. I ordered From Phastekperformance, BigWorms has amazing product as well.
