Window tinting question with the auto "crack" windows...

Everytime I've had tint installed before, I've been told not to operate the windows for a few days. Our windows automatically crack open when you open the door... anyway to turn that off? Has it caused any issues with anyone's tint install?

Looking to have mine done later this week and thought about this.

Thanks!

Open the door, and trip the latch. It will bring the window up. Then it gets tinted like that, but they will push the excess into the lower seal so when it comes up the seam wont be visible.

All should be well. If the tint is installed far enough below the rubber door trim, there won't be any harm done by that little movement.

Any reputable tint place has been dealing with Windows indexing for years it's not a new issue, you have no cause for concern assuming you are going to a place with a good reputation and not the absolutely cheapest guy in town.

For indexing windows a professional installer will put the tint all the way up to the top edge of the window then dry the film to the window. No need to wait days to dry. Can use windows the same day.

never had any issues on tint with the 5th gen or the 6th gen. both did the same thing. if they do the job right, it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Thanks for the reassurances!

I did call the shop (rated 4.9/5 with over 1000 reviews on google, so I assume they are good). They said they do this on lots of cars with the auto indexing windows and no issues... whew!

I am going with the CXP film - $275 including a "visor" across the top of the front window.

Like a kid at Christmas time! Can't wait for Friday!
