Added the ZL Addons Splash Guards

My thoughts on the ZL1 Addons Splash Guards

Put some Splash Guards on today, more for the road rash that my meaty tires might cause. The rear guards are fine, set up and attachment is fine, easy to do and I also watched Lethals video. I was wondering why Lethal did not show the front install, but I know why now. The front guards are not that well thought out in my opinion, using only one plastic clip from exsisting wheel weld (push pin) and then attaching them with 3M double side tape. It's hard to press the Splash Guard flush to the inner part of the wheel weld fender. I would recommend the rear guards forsure, but I am not 100% on board for the front set up. Just being honest about the set up and I hope ZL1 Addons address the front issue, perhaps small screws that would require you to drill into inner wheel weld or a plastic clip that would clip on the inner wheel weld. I am not a hater, but if I knew they attached by 3M tape, I would have passed on them.

I haven't ordered this yet or even looked much into it, but it sounds like your idea is similar to the ones I had installed on my 2015 Viper.

The kit on the Viper used one factory screw and then drilled a single hole into the plastic wheel well and use a push pin screw thing. Worked perfect.

I actually had to install mine slightly differently on the front due to my body kit. Just did the install on a friends car and will have the video live soonish.

Overall the fronts require one bolt and some good ole double sided sticky tape. Seems wonky, but haven't had issues yet. When I asked John if he would offer other options, he said this works fine. I guess we shall see.

FWIW - I have the RPI splash shields ( very similar design to the ZL Addons). They re- use the push pin on the fender liner to fasten the bottom which works fine. For the top they have a metal clip that slides over the inside edge of the fender lip and the splash shield. I am not impressed with this clip at all. It isn't a very solid connection. The clips tended to cut into the splash shield and leave marks after I had to readjust them a couple of times after the clips slid out of position. I took the clips off and used 3M tape instead and am much happier with the result. The tape is holding great.

more info

I noticed today they have updated their web site, when I ordered a few weeks ago I am not sure if the deluxe model was there or not. Plus, I do see they have have noted about the 3M tape. But I had to re a line the tape and trim off tape so it would not show as much. I 'll let you decide. Rear set 4.5 Stars out of 5 -- 2.5 Stars out of 5 for front guards.

Shit...the fronts use the extra screws I had left over or something? I used the pull tab that was already there for the fronts, the rears went on fine with three screws , spacers and washers.. I didn't see where any screws would be used on the fronts though.

Hmmm...oh well

I didn't really like how the fronts installed, but I made it work. Rears went in great.
