New Skorpion Hood Test Fit
Finally received my hood after a long wait (more on that later)...
I ordered the 6LE Designs Skorpion Hood. The quality of the hood is fantastic. In the past, I ordered a Suncoast Creations Ram Air Hood for my 2002 Trans Am, and had many issues with it. Sill undecided if I will install a mesh piece in the front opening of the hood to match the rear. Not sure why there is none there other than unrestricted air flow OPINIONS? My installer did a test fit on the car, and other then the hood latch being a little twisted/bent, it went on with ease. The fenders had to be adjusted just a little, but the biggest pain with the alignment was the hood closing. We tried lowing the factory hood latch, and when we closed the hood, it was still approx. 1/4 inch higher then the front bumper. We took off the little rubber trim on top of the inside of the top of the front end and problem solved. Hood was baked for a few days in the booth (I didn't want to drive around with it unpainted), and then it was prepped and ready for paint. Hood was painted on Friday, going with a painted Matte Black single stripe to finish it off. Also my ACS spoiler will be installed and was painted Matte Black as well. Just purchased the Matte Black fuel door with the red hot inserts, and then no more mods for the time being. Last pic is the look I am going for... More pictures to follow... I personally would flat black/wrap the chrome accents in the lower DRL's… |
