1le - aftermart 1le spectrum lighting kit installation
Hello All !
This would be my first post on 6th gen camaro forum. I am in the market to get myself a 6th gen 1le. I recently went and test drove a 2SS and boy the car made me giggling like a kid . Been driving 13 camaro 2SS for 3.5 years now and the new one is a super upgrade ! I love it !! I love the 2SS because of all the creature comfort it has to offer (Vented seat) But I decided that I want an 1le, I am ready to do the compromise what all 2ss has to offer for the cause of performance. But I really like the spectrum lighting kit. The way it integrates in the door handles i just love it. Since the 1le interior is sorta dull I would love to have some lighting effects lighten up the atmosphere inside the cabin. The funny thing is I do know that the spectrum lighting kit can be added up while configuring the car. But most of the dealers in mid-ohio don't have 1le. when I called them up they are getting the news about 1les from me. So I might have to go out of state to get one. Now my question is..I saw the GM genuine spectrum lighting kit on that_gm_guys website. its about 700$$. which is really reasonable. if bought after market and install it, how would it talk to the mylink system ? is it like USB ? plug and the mylink system automatically detects it and pops up a spectrum light option on the info system ? or do I need to take it to a dealer ? You input on this would be much appreciated ! Thanks again |

I have a SS 1LE with the spectrum lighting.
It was installed by the dealer. If you want to be certain of no damage to your interior and no warranty issues with your MyLink, I would suggest having it dealer installed. You can order it from any supplier (thatgmpartsguy or gmpartsdirect) and have the dealer do the install. BTW -it's fairly gimmicky and I would not seek it out as a make/break feature.

BTW what do you mean by gimmicky ? Can you elaborate more on that please ? Is there any difference between dealer installed and factory installed kit ? meaning does it miss any feature or anything ? |

Pretty sure he means at the end of the day it's lighting in a car, and a car designed for the track at that, it's not that big of a deal. My 2015 mustang gt premium had pretty cool interior lighting standard you could change colors but at the end of the day I always left it the same color myself, so not really that big of a deal. For me if lighting came on the car cool but $700 plus installation that's nuts for me personally for some lights. That's a cold air intake plus extra money, or part of money you need for exhaust or any other number of mods, but that's just me.

Yup. That's kinda what I meant.
It's cool for people that sit in the car for the 1st time. It's faded into the background for me now.
