Nitrous?
I have been on here for a while and hardly see any posts about nitrous setups. Is it that there is very little interest in using nitrous? It seems that more people are willing to spend $5000 to $10000 for forced induction than a more reasonable priced nitrous setup. I'm looking for some advice on setting this up on a 2016 A8 2SS. Thanks in advance.

Probably because of all the inherent "dangers" with running nitrous. Tons of horror stories out there. I came this close to running nitrous. Even had a kit sitting in my garage. But I thought I was going to get hooked up on a centrifugal supercharger kit and sold it.
There were/are a few guys that run it though. Mrbeasly is currently the fastest guy on the forums with a 10.6 pass in his m6 running a 200 or 250 shot. GTKLLRSS or something like that is also pretty fast he ran nitrous on his a8. He's also a vendor for Nitrous Outlet or Nitrous Express I believe. You can find both their names on the fast list. Good luck!

nitrous best bang for the buck. the horror stories you hear about are all because of operator error really. if I had the money I would go FI BUT you can beat $700 for 75-250 hp...

The cost of a "proper" (definitions vary) nitrous system gets fairly close to a self installed locally tuned SC.
I did the math on bolt ons plus nitrous and it came real damn close to my current procharger/meth setup. Maybe a 1500$ difference which you will make up in fill ups pretty quick. It's no more dangerous than relying on meth for fuel, which multiple people on the 6gen do. I say do it. But don't cheap out. Get a bottle warmer, mount it somewhere safe, do some research on what supporting upgrades you should do along with it. And for the love of god (unless you're real damn savvy or have done nos before) get it installed and tuned by someone who has experience with this platform specifically. A lot goes into the tune on these guys. I've seen a variance of 30-50+hp between tunes during my research. |
