New 1SS owner!

Hey All,

I've had my new 2017 1SS M6 Garnet Red Tintcoat Camaro for almost two weeks, but because of shitty weather I have only been able to drive it for about a week. I love it. Only major option is the performance exhaust.

My plan for this car was to buy something that wasn't a project -- I wanted to buy the car I wanted. The only thing I plan to do is the skip shift eliminator. I already have the cable, and I'm going to feel out the dealer service department about installing it when I pick up my plates.

I know all about the debates and I am not trying to incite them, but I am trying to follow the break-in to about 1K. It's hard to keep below 4K for most of my driving, but I've been doing pretty well at it.

I am coming from another car that I consider to be pretty good, and I am *keeping* it. I am coming from a Mazdaspeed 6 2007. Off the top of my head it is factory rated at a mere 285 BHP. I put in a short ram intake, modified the exhaust, and reprogrammed the ECU with a tuning system. Also, colder plugs. I am keeping it because it's a sedan, and it may be cheaper to keep it up for driving in the snow. (It also has up to 50/50 AWD.) No comparison to hitting the gas on the 1SS Oddly, when comparing the two I am surprised by how forgiving the 1SS M6 is compared to the manual in the Mazdaspeed. The clutch on that car is truly unforgiving on/off and specific/trackish. Makes me feel like I can jump into any other stick and make out fine.

Once I get into summer I can contemplate whether I want to make the Mazdaspeed 6 a project and put a bigger turbo on it, more aggressive tunes, etc, but now that I'm in the 1SS I sort of wonder what the point would be. My old car has 108K miles, has been maintained religiously with full synthetic, and I should probably keep it as a backup driver and hope it runs to 250K. It still looks great.

Anyway,

I look forward to getting to know everyone a bit better and learning from all of you.

-W

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
